I10 West is now closed at I49, traffic is being diverted to Hwy190.

People just rubbernecking and never seen videos of chemical plant fires just exploding like a MOAB I guess.

Good thing is drilling fluid isn't as volatile as chemicals.

I was driving that stretch of I-10 when it blew. Fun stuff. My house is technically in the evacuation zone. It’s some crazy shite

My earlier suggestion to get around the wreck is now crapola. All major E/W highways between Crowley/Eunice and Lafayette are now closed or clogged. State highways around there are going to begin to see heavier traffic and lost people.

Good luck, and godspeed. Eat the fat ones first if you have to resort to cannibalism to survive until you can get out of that mess.

My general dislike of the interstate kept me from getting on at Lafayette going Westbound at about 4:15.

I was WB and they shut down the interstate at i49 literally 3 cars ahead of me. A couple cars zipped through past the cop, I guess they are stopped further ahead now. We were forced NB on 49 and turned around south as quick as we could . stopped to eat in S Laffy and plan on going down to 14 in Abbeville and head west as long as I can stand it(probably lake chuck)

Is that the same plant that exploded a few years ago?

Apparently early reports are no one seriously injured

Buddy of mine works there, said they were transferring flammable chemical from one tank to another and the chemical exploded. Probably static electricity from using an ungrounded pump

Place is a total loss by the looks of it, reminds me of the MultiChem fire in new Iberia years ago

No it's not even a plant. They just sell chemicals

They do some blending of Oil and Gas Production chemicals there. Some flammable, some combustible, acids, bases etc

But not a “chemical plant” like most people will think of and they don’t have chemical reactors there either

Yea I worded it wrong and was too lazy to correct it. Not long after shite hit the fan I saw the dude who had Patriot across the interstate took his helecopter and GTFO.

Evacuation back down to just 1 mile north, glad to see initial reports is no serious injuries.
