Your comments in this thread are the reason bike riders get so much hate.

You're also the guy who doesn't merge with others, flies to the front of the line, then expects people to let you in. It may not be illegal, but it's a dick move by a smug a-hole.

Using the motorcycle lane in Austin is not appreciated. I was trying to beat the rain in stand-still traffic.

What motorcycle lane. I ride a bike also so I am not speaking as a cager but lane splitting is illegal in Texas according to everything I have found

F150 douch was breaking the law. Improper lane usage. FACT.

Was he? I didn't see him leaving his lane.

He was occasionally making full use of the lane riding close to the line just like the motorcyclist.

that should not be a reason why someone doesn't ride

It is a risk you take if you ride. If you're going to ride you should do what you can to decrease the likelihood of being taken out by an idiot. Yet, a large number of riders don't. They simply don't give a shite. Like the two dumbasses on a crotch rocket I saw yesterday. He had on a t-shirt shorts and tennis shoes. She had on a halter, shorts and sandals. All it takes is him laying that bike over and they're both fricked for life. People make stupid decisions before they even get on a bike. Lane splitting is just another stupid decision they make.

I'll compare them to the bicyclists who regularly come down my road two or three wide where there is a blind hill and idiot drivers who pay no mind to the 50mph speed limit or the no passing zone. They'll get away with it most days, but as I've seen more than once, they eventually wind up in the ditch.

I'll never argue otherwise.

And I won't feel the least bit for them when they have life-long scaring.

Why do you feel entitled to skip to the front of the line, from the back of the line, because you ride a 2-wheeled vehicle?
it’s not about entitlement; it’s more efficient

frick efficiency because of the entitlement of small-peen truck drivers.

You don't know about checking your blind spots?

Moron they are called blind spots for a reason. I can check mirrors, look over my shoulder through the windows and still have a blind spot where a dumb frick on a bike can be. If you are on a bike, defensive driving is vastly more important to you than it is to me. I have 3 tons of steel, you don't and the laws of physics don't give a shite about your feelings.

Because I've seen "lane splitters" rolled up on the shoulder on multiple occasions.

I was stuck in traffic on an interstate in Upstate NY once, about 1/2 mile from an exit. The cause of the delay was well beyond the exit. A very few cars would drive on the shoulder to use the exit. One guy had enough and, as a car was slowly driving by on the shoulder to exit, he pulled hard to the right and rammed the guy.

I often wonder how miserable a person the rammer must have been to do such a thing. Same with lane splitting in standstill traffic - who gives a rip?

Should be illegal for the biker to come up between lanes like that.

Don’t drive in the UK then it’s legal when traffic is at a standstill.

Yup. They do that in Cali as well and it’s annoying as heck. Not to mention it creates a dangerous situation when they whiz between cars

Isn’t motorcycle illegally passing in Texas within existing laws?

Are motorcyclists really that dense and self absorbed that they ignore law just because it doesn’t specifically mention motorcycles splitting lanes even while forbidding similar behavior? (I guess so seeing how many states have had to explicitly spell this out for motorcyclists & police)

There is a reason why a bill in Texas was introduced to make it legal since it is not, but the attempt from a few years ago would have still required all lanes to be fully stopped while performing lane splitting which wasn’t followed in video regardless of bill not becoming law yet to my knowledge.

Truck in OP seems to have mostly stayed in lane. The one brief moment front passenger side corner may crossed lane markers it could be reasonably looked at as starting to pull into open space in front of vehicle to his right before changing mind and straightening back into his existing lane.

Several years ago I was sitting in traffic on the interstate in a similar spot as you described, not for from an exit. Well, I saw the first person in a Toyota car on the shoulder about 20 or so cars back. It was moving probably 30ish or some mph. About 8 or 10 cars in front of me I hear a bang and screeching tires. Ol' boy ran over what looked like a piece of angle iron or something that managed to cut a tire to the point it blew out. He looked to have went off the little slope leading to the exit and came to a stop in a sort of ditch area.

I giggle every time I think about that.

You could have stopped right here. Other than a few obscure laws in a few states there has been no argument that holds water. A few riders that you guys pretend to care about get hurt. That's a chance they take. For the down side of riding motorcycles they get to benefit a little once in a while. BFD

I used to race dirt bikes. I rode a street bike, a cruiser. I never "whiz"ed between lanes. If I couldn't safely pass a stopped line of traffic then I should have turned in my license.

Most of the haters in here displayed annoyance as the only real reason they want the bike riders to suffer the downside of riding instead of enjoying a benefits.

Way to go. I spent a few years in Army and have paid ALL of my taxes, even while in military only to find out how many people can hate me at any given time just for enjoying my life. I hope you enjoy your hatred as much. Murica!!

That gives me a an idea of how your mind works. You think he had a woman about to have a baby in there, or had to go to the rest room real bad?

I drove a Trans Am through a ditch to get to the side road in Houston once. The traffic was stopped for miles. I passed them all.
