I don't think my question was answered.

Do you cut back in front of someone when traffic gets moving?

Why wouldn't they?

It's legal in a number of states. Given that fact, why?

Even if legal, it still isn't, nor will it ever be, a "motorcycle lane". Lane splitting, as a regular practice by any rider, is stupid and dangerous. Period.

It's illegal, it's illegal.

F150 douch was breaking the law. Improper lane usage. FACT.

That was a lot more uneventful than I expected.

Motorcycle drivers remind me of women. They will quickly call for equal rights while at the same time taking advantage of something only they are able to take advantage of.

I quite literally already addressed this.

Uh.. yeah.. that’s why I replied to it.

But I do realize asking you to thoroughly read what people are posting is a little more than I should be expecting.

Solid burn.

Again, I’m just trying to understand which laws you’re suggesting people should cry more to get off the books. Apparently not the laws of Texas, where the video in OP took place. Not the laws of Louisiana, where most of the people who replied live. And not the laws of Virginia, where you live.

So I guess you’re referring to the handful of states where it is legal, despite those states having nothing to do with the thread.

Arizona just passed a law allowing this. Lots of motorcycles here, they are by far better drivers than those in cars/trucks.

I have a bigger problem with drivers who think they can make a “legal” right turn on RED right in front of incoming traffic. Then they proceeded to drive 40 mph and cause a line of traffic behind them.

So they force their way back into traffic, effectively moving everybody back a spot.

Got it.

Because I've seen "lane splitters" rolled up on the shoulder on multiple occasions. If you think splitting lanes on a motorcycle on an interstate isn't dangerous, please never, ever ride a bike.

Advancing slowly past a line of stopped cars isn't stupid and dangerous.

You aren't thinking we're referring to lane-splitting at highways speeds are you?

Any of it is dangerous. You already have to deal with idiot drivers on a motorcycle that affords you no protection. It is a gamble when you do it. Denying that doesn't change that fact.

I don’t see anything he did that justifies ridiculing him. Don’t split lanes because you saw a video on YouTube of someone doing it, and think it’s okay now. It’s not. A lot can happen just by accident, and you not just hurt your own self, but damage other people’s vehicles as a result. It’s a dumb decision.

If stopped vehicles are "dangerous" then we really need to overhaul our drivers ed program.

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove here. I said it is dangerous, and in most instances stupid. You're on a bike that you can easily die on if one thing goes wrong because one dumbass didn't look for you. Your margin for error is incredibly slim. It is dumb and dangerous, even if legal in some states.

Lane splitting should not be legal anywhere.

As I said earlier in this thread, I don't ride because I don't trust the idiot drivers on the road.

That being said....that should not be a reason why someone doesn't ride. People should put their phones down and pay more attention. If you manage to somehow hit a bike that's lane-splitting while sitting at a red light, then you should have your license revoked.

Most of his lane-splitting happened while cars were stopped or at a roll. Once again...it's the responsibility of the driver to check their surroundings before merging.

As I stated....this wasn't at highway speeds. That would absolutely be a stupid thing to do....will never argue otherwise.
