one day I came home and my neighbor had mowed and edged my front yard. I told him thanks but it was unnecessary, he said he was happy to do it because his mother in law was there and he was avoiding her.

We bbqed that night and I gave him a heaping plate full.

How in the hell does he get bottles of pappy. Down here in Florida the only way you get some Pappy is if you win it in a drawing or want to pay $25 for a taste of it.

My neighbors are good people. I'm about to upgrade and expand (move) and new neighbors is one concern I have.

side 1: nice family, we give them wine, they give us baby clothes. we always talk when we are outside together.

side 2: nice family, Africans (not Afro-Americans), dad is a doctor, three nice boys (always say yes sir, no ma'am).

suburbs of Houston, Mexicans cut all the grass around here.

I don't know any of them, so they're perfect.

We have great neighbors. Everyone in about a 6 house radius tends to get together on on of our driveways or patios or garage/playrooms on Friday nights to shoot the bull and have fun. Fire pits during the winter, just chilling during the summer. We've all been to several vacations together - to Gulf Shores with everyone and the men and boys skiing with a larger group from the area. We've been very lucky.

I think one may even visit Tiger Droppings from time to time. So if you see this -

I have 3 awesome neighbors

- old rich couple, both artists, that split their time here and at their farmhouse in Wisconsin. They bring me fresh apples and cherries every fall. Always down for a few drinks on the porch as well.

- pastor and his wife who lets us use his pool whenever we want in the summer

- young couple with a kid a little younger than ours that are quiet and nice

and then I have the fat, lazy, trashy, piece of shite cop that I hate with every fiber of my being

he is actually a nice enough guy, its just that his house looks like it belongs in the ghetto because he doesn't mow his yard, he parks his damn cop car in his yard, his hedges are growing over his house and he is slowly killing his kids by feeding them fast food every day...seriously his 12 year old son is like 250 lbs

I hate him

Other than the occasional wave or good morning they don't talk to me so that's pretty awesome.

My favorite kind of neighbor. I have one like that. The other neighbor is a one room church that is only used on Sunday morning.

Sounds like a total nightmare to me. Best part of spending time with inlaws......waving to them as you are driving home

How do you ever escape them???

I don't know any of my neighbors names and have never interacted with any of them. They're the best friends I've ever had,

I've got some good neighbors as well. Older couple next to me. We share a patch of yard between our houses and take turns cutting it, depending on who gets out to mow first. I usually try and mow before him, and was successful before we had the kid. However, he's been beating me lately. Came over the other day after he saw me throwing my blower all over the driveway and let me borrow his. (Craftsman shite sucks...though its probably my fault for putting ethanol gas in it).
Neighbors on the other side are very nice as well. Always invite us over for stuff, but the wife and I can never make it. We do have kids roughly the same age though, so i'm sure we'll end up being closer if we don't move.

FWIW, i think our neighborhood in general is really nice. Very nice people and tons of kids.

I live in the 'older' part of my neighborhood. All of my neighbors are either retired or close to it. When I was renovating my house, my neighbor dropped by with a homemade chocolate strawberry cake. It was got damned delicious.

I know...its just that the cop's house is directly across the street so I have to see it when I walk out my front door everyday
