You had to go to WalMart to cash the check. Damn, you had to wait behind Shaniqua, and Tameeka for them to cash their payday checks for cash?
Damn

The teller should have ran your check through the US Treasury check verification website. If it came back clean and you had the matching funds in your account, there is absolutely no reason they shouldn't have cashed it for you. Also a 7 day hold on 2100 is rediculous. Even smaller credit unions don't put that long of a hold on such a little amount of money, as long as no negative info came back on the check. TBH it sounds more like you have a history of not having money in your account.

Cut the teller some slack - half the people that actually go in to a bank these days are trying to pull some shite. As previously mentioned, they have little to no leeway on making exceptions or overriding the system.
You need to know your bank manager. Tellers turnover monthly (mostly from getting fired for making an exception, or getting sick and tired of rude customers). Bank managers have been there a while and know the rules and what they can override.

Cmon on man. You have been banking for over 25 years so I assume you at least in your mid 40’s. And you can’t cover a $2100 check??

Capital One has had my accounts since I was 15. I have never had a problem with them. Every time I have had issues, they’ve rectified it within 48 hours, tops. And I rarely have issues.

I’ve only ever used them for the credit cards

I’ve never had to deal with Chase for personal banking but I’d rather arse frick a porcupine than deal with their commercial banking again

After 20 years of business, I recently switched banks due to poor management and horrific customer service. I am now with community bank and couldn’t be happier. THe difference is night and day.

How can they legally stamp your check as denied because you refuse to use their shite hole? Why not get that teller's name and raise hell to the corporates? Also if you were a true OT baller, you would let your lawyer handle these petty transactions.

have had an account with Chase Bank since the early 90's but today I am over them. I went to cash a US treasury check for a little over 2100. I have had many checks cashed with them and never had an issue till today. I was informed I had to deposit this check and they would not cash it. The teller also stated their would be a 7 day hold on the check. Since Katrina when I was stuck at a hospital for 2 months and could not leave I have not wanted to deposit my whole check with them.
You were trying to get cash back for the entire amount? Unless you were about to buy something, why do you need 2100 cash on you. You do realize it's not hurricane season and even if it were, people knew she was coming before she got there.
I have been using chase for 7 years and have not had any issues. Of course I haven't tried to cash a check for a couple thousand dollars with no money in my account either. Even when I don't have a lot in checking, there is still a portion of it available right away and the rest will clear the next day.
Your reasoning for wanting it cashed and not deposited is one you should seek professional counseling for if true. There's nothing wrong with wanting to have some cash on you, but a couple hundred bucks can get you far enough down the road to where places can make debit card transactions had a disaster occurred.

This is why I bank with 2 local banks. Each one knows me by name when I walk in and my good friend’s dad is the branch manager at one of them if I ever need anything.
Banking is easy when you aren’t just an account #.

I'm about to switch too. They charged me $12 for not meeting one of the criteria for their checking accounts. One of the criteria is getting a direct deposit of more than $500 into the account each month. I get paid every two weeks (more than $500 each time) and it is deposited directly into my account. For some reason my payroll deposit doesn't qualify as a payroll deposit.

I don't blame them.
The government is some check bouncing mother frickers.
I imagine with the shutdown, some scammers are taking the opportunity to write bad checks in the gov'ts name knowing full well it will take a long time to bounce, giving them time to disappear
