This.

Charlotte is a nice, clean, and generally safe city. It's basic and kinda dull.

Only passed through Charlotte once in my lifetime. Stopped to eat at Awful House. While I was there a guy was arrested for watching guys using the urinals... the cops actually went in and removed him. After I ate immediately felt sick -- went out in the wooded area behind WH, the home of old campfires and empty beer cans -- and up-chucked. Then I got back in my car and continued on my merry way.

Lived in Charlotte for twenty years. It's clean, and the neighborhoods are quite pretty. Giant houses everywhere.

But coming from New Orleans, Charlotte is a giant bore with almost zero character. Downtown is lifeless.

And this

My dad moved us to Charlotte in 96 to 99. My brother and sister stayed because they were old enough to decide on their own, but when they come back home to Louisiana to visit, they say it's a lot more to do here than Charlotte. It does get boring real fast there.

You can't get a true feel for Charlotte from either I-85 or I-77.

The true beauty of Charlotte is in its neighborhoods... an amazing variety of trees and flowering plants, nice and wide manicured boulevards, beautiful homes.

I really like this aspect of Charlotte. Their neighborhoods are pretty cool.

Lived in huntersville for a while. Boring is probably the best word to describe it.

It's not a bad place to live though.

My favorite lake was Lake Badin. Actually, the entire Yadkin river valley area was my favorite. Anything to get away from the traffic and liberals.

I don't really remember any quirky or artistic neighborhoods. I also don't remember seeing too many neighborhoods bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. Just a bunch of nice, well manicured homes.

Charlotte is a very good city. Very clean downtown, a lot to do, a lot of young professionals. My brother in laws family lives there and it's always fun going to breweries, fly fishing, ball games, etc.

I am not looking to party. Looking for safe place, good weather, nice community, and other rich people like me.

Because it's like saying you're moving to Dallas for the Six Flags.

Inspite of all the downvotes, Rex nailed it. It's not a destination city and has zero redeeming factors.

On the whole, it's a pretty terrible food city, though. I hear it's sort of getting better in that regard.

For a city it's size, it's abysmal. Chains, chains, and more chains.

Really in the South, for food cities, you've got (no designated order):

Charleston
Atlanta
Nashville
Birmingham (really)
Memphis
New Orleans
Savannah

mehhhhh

It's very hit and miss, a ton of chains and some good BBQ joints. But for a city it's size, there is jack crap for gourmet food. It's pretty crazy the lack of upper echelon eating options.
