Its a town built on the banking industry and textiles. Why would you expect culture or anything exciting? That being said, it's a great area to live.

The joke I've heard is "It's a nice place to live but I wouldn't want to visit there."

I hate CLT.. I lived there for a little over a year... the only thing good about that city is "Alexander Michael's" on 9th in 4th Ward...

Do yourself a favor and don't miss that place..

"What It Is" with Chicken/Penne/Vodka sauce...

/you're welcome.

Braindead, boring middle America with boring people, go to Charlotte.

Come to Asheville.

It's nice compared to Louisiana, Mississippi, and much of Alabama, sure.

Not nice compared to Seattle, Boise, SLC, Denver, Minneapolis, etc.

What is so great about Charlotte is you are practically near everything of change of scenery. Near the mountains, near the beaches, near some major metro/cities. Charolette is a melting pot of everyone from the east coast to southern parts of the United States. I think Charlotte is a bigger version of Lexington the more I think about it. Safe and clean with some great neighborhoods.

quote: On the whole, it's a pretty terrible food city, though. For a city it's size, it's abysmal. Chains, chains, and more chains. Really in the South, for food cities, you've got (no designated order):

Charleston Atlanta Nashville Birmingham (really) Memphis New Orleans Savannah

Charleston is a bit overrated in many aspects. It is like one big overpriced tourist trap.

Unless you're one of the few who can afford to live in a prime location, I don't see how an ordinary person can like living in Charleston.

Little known fact: NC was the site of a gold rush in the early 1800's. There are mining tunnels under the downtown area.

The Isle of Man is a nice island. They have their own language there. They call it "Manx". Does Charlotte have its own language? No? Well, then . . . there you go. Charlotte's not an island either.
