The Divine Liturgy in the Greek Orthodox Church is just that-liturgical.

The only option for political talk would be the homily. But that almost never happens. The homily is mostly used to talk about the scripture that was read that day.

So no, it was not brought up.

Pastor eluded to story highlighting where our security comes from. He never mentioned Charlie Kirk's name though. I loved that. Charlie wasn't the focus rather an example of trouble we will face.
I thank God constantly for the light he placed in me because it was dark at one time. Greater is He that is in me.

I prefer my propaganda one source at a time. I would have zero respect for a pastor that brought his politics into church.

Let's see, one of the biggest champions for Christ and Christianity gets assassinated and it would be "propaganda" and "politics" if it gets brought up in a Christian church? You people don't really grasp the situation do you.

I attended church, it seemed a little busier than usual and the preacher prayed for CK's family and our country.

I’m out of town but did go to mass. Haven’t been to that particular church before so won’t comment on attendance. CK was not brought up

I would say attendance was fairly normal at church yesterday for me. Charlie Kirk was mentioned, along with some other tragic events that have happened recently. The message centered around why evil and bad things exist in the world and how so much of society follows its own desires and rejects God, which destroys a society.

Anyone that fails to understand that we are in a war with evil, especially given the events of the past few weeks, is just hiding his/her hand in the sand.

The Bible is true; Satan really does come to kill, rob, and destroy. While Christians know the ultimate outcome, Satan won't stop trying to get souls for hell.

Now, more than ever, God is the answer.

Biggest lie being peddled .

He spoke the truth and talked about basic morality, common sense and human decency. It's only divisive to people who have none of those things.

I didn't really notice anything significant in terms of attendance...it fluctuates pretty regularly (rain, eucharist, etc) but not only was Kirk mentioned, Courage and Kirk were basically the basis of the entire surmon

I think you need to take some time to reflect because most of things he said that are being labeled “divisive” or at the core of the Christian faith.

Same! Had to park in an overflow lot we've never had to use. There were easily over 100 people in the narthex because there wasn't even standing room available in the church. Was humbling to see, honestly.

I'm sure most pastors don't want to bring politics into church…

Politics being downstream from spirituality, and culture being downstream from politics; I don’t understand the sentiment of not discussing politics. Pastor’s have a responsibility of being shepherds to their flock. I would find a different church if my pastor stayed silent.

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

You don't have pastor or church, this much is obvious.

If you believe this you either have never listened to him and you are going along with the legacy media taking points or you hear what you want to hear.

I don’t think anyone is going to church to celebrate Charlie Kirk. I think a lot of people were one, reminded this week that life can be cut short in an instant and two, that this country is midst of a brutal spiritual war. It will be more difficult with to stay neutral in a spiritual war of good versus evil that each passing day is becoming more physical.

He said pretty mainstream things to radicalized people. That contrast made it seem divisive. Also, he made them defend their position. You know, stuff colleges are supposed to make you do.
