Scary to imagine that they've probably gotten away with shite like this in the past, too. I'll never understand the folks that say they don't fear the police because they're not a criminal and "have nothing to hide". Sometimes, that's completely irrelevant.

What sucks is, is that there are tons of good cops out there. These lazy jokers want to show they are above the law and almost got away with it. The lawyers in the case are in serious shite. How in the hell did any of them think this was a good plan?

This is disturbing all around.
This group was not only willing to tolerate other's corruption, they willingly participated in it.
What is most terrifying is that they didn't do it on protect themselves or because there was some large benefit to their corruption (e.g., financially), they did it because they thought the could get away with it. And they were willing to ruin a man's life simply out of spite.
It's pathological behavior within a group with power. That's more terrifying to me than any radical terrorist group, drug cartel, or typical criminal behavior; we have a idea what motivates them, and we don't put our trust in them and give them concrete power.
