Cooking on gas is not barbecuing! It's just cooking outside.

You couldn’t be more of a try-hard chode if you tried. Your limp-wristed pansy arse couldn’t even successfully grill a damn wiener.
ETA:,and yes, your ignorance is showing.

Hardwood lump charcoal... and I’ll add apple or cherrywood

Good Lord you're so insecure about your erector set grill.

Do not get a dual grill. Keep the Webber. Get a nice barrel pit that will last you can smoke on.

Electric grills are super convenient and everybody overlooks them.
No swapping gas bottles. No messy charcoal. No singed hair. No matches. Just plug in and your grilling like a pro in a jiffy.

Turn in your man card right now. We are talking about real bbq pits.

Had my Weber genesis for a few seasons and contemplating adding a quality charcoal grill.
Get a Weber Kettle Grill for $100 or less. Best investment you'll ever make.
My serious cooking is on an Egg but I still use my 15yo Kettle for quick hamburgers or a couple steaks since it's ready faster. You can also easily take that thing anywhere. They also never die. Mine will also outlive me which kind of pisses me off.
As another poster said, get a charcoal chimney. They work great and you only need a couple of newspaper pages or equivalent.

Old country makes a great one if you're in the $500-1000 budget.

I am looking at a 26'' kettle, a chimney and a slow n sear attachment. do you have any experience with slow n sear attachment? i cannot tell if it is worth it, or the company is just paying people on youtube to say it is better than the baskets that come with the kettle

I've got 5 pits right now but I'll definitely be adding that one about a year from now. They just came out with a bigger version but I want them to get all the bugs worked out before I get one.

That looks awesome. I did chuckle at the Bluetooth/WiFi enabled control bullet. It just seems completely unnecessary but that’s awesome.

Everything I read about chargriller grills that they fall apart quickly, especially the ones from Home Depot for some reason.
I looked really long and hard at that specific model when looking to buy a new one and ended up getting a Weber spirit instead.
I will say this, the Weber genesis with the sear station is the best gas grill I’ve ever personally used and am looking to upgrade to that.

But I will be buying that masterbuilt gravity series. Never thought I would say I would buy a masterbuilt, but damn that thing is the best of all worlds

Used to have a dual function grill but hardly ever used the gas side. When it was time to replace it I just went with a Weber kettle. With a charcoal chimney starter, using charcoal is just too easy to justify having a gas grill

I’ve got one of these. It’s a gas grill with a tray for wood chips. It provides as much smoke as a charcoal grill and is super quick and easy. The burner is in an enclosed tube like their fryers so you don’t get any gas fumes in the cooker.
I picked it up used off Craigslist for about $150 and really enjoy cooking on it.

They do, and they come in a box so you put it together. You need high temp rtv at the firebox/CC connection to have a shot at not leaking like crazy.
I looked long and hard at Oklahoma Joe's, which is owned by chargriller now and has since dropped in quality. It would've cost me an extra $300+ to mod it in order to get to where I wanted. The old country pits are all welded construction and thicker metal. It's been working great for me.
