Anyone have some rec's for a viable chainsaw for home defense? Obviously a handgun would be ideal, but I am thinking outside the box.

Not to mention, how brazen of a criminal would one have to be to carry out a home invasion with the intimidating shrilling sound of a 130 decibel chainsaw cranking up while you are trying to locate the homeowner in an attack.

I would like to meet the individual(s) that would be up to carrying out an attack on a home when they hear the sound of a chainsaw cranking at full speed.

I'm looking for a nail gun to concealed carry and a stealth dremel for taking on airplanes.

Husqvarna makes the best tactical chainsaws.

I am always amazed at the amount of pussies on this board who call themselves men but, have never done things like start a chain saw.

I tell my home invaders to put their hands up, shut their mouth and be reaaaal Stihl. They love the pun.

Problem is getting the chainsaw to crank up on cue. If the intruder hears wur... wur... wur... "God damn it!" wur...
It's not that intimidating.

Just keep a weed eater (sans the attachment) in your bedroom closet. Make sure you prime it before you go to bed at night. It should start right up and sounds enough like a chainsaw to scare away the would be villains.

I saw on Facebook where Steve dumped you Pawl. Don't be sacred. And certainly don't do anything rash like trying to operate a chainsaw. Go to your moms. Call Brinks home security and have a system installed in the morning. Stay strong.

I know people will whine about this but IMO an AR-15 is the best, especially if you haven't been in gun fights before. The amount of stress you will be under if you find your home being invaded makes a handgun not the most effective weapon, when you are freaking out its easy to miss at even very close range, but with a rifle at close range it is as easy as pointing a stick at something and with an AR-15 you have 30 rounds. Shotguns are another good choice as well but you still only have a certain amount of rounds, the recoil makes you have to reacquire your target after each shot and unless you have a semi-auto you need to think about chambering new rounds. If you have a home invasion like Corkfather went through with 5-6 people busting in the door I wouldn't want those worries. The only downside of an AR is it can go through wall easier but if you live in a house and even have the tiniest bit of awareness you aren't going to accidentally shoot your wife or kid.

What if it ran off compressed air? That way you wouldn't have to worry about it not starting.

Ya but if the intruder had a piece and shot the tank, which would have to be big to power a chainsaw, the explosion and shrapnel would tear you to pieces.

When I read this, I heard it in Charlie from "Sunny in Philadelphia"'s voice.
