I don't believe that assuming the chainsaw is actually running.

Get a saw with a 25" or longer bar and nobody is getting close enough to swing that bat

You are counting on fear alone to accomplish the task. One good blow to the bar with a bat while the chainsaw is running and it will simply be a heavy noisemaker. Anyone who tries to use a running chainsaw as a weapon is an idiot.

Get one you can tie to a rope and swing it around. That will provide more security for your perimeter

I think you and Jim Rockford compete to see who can come up with the dumbest thread

OP - If you go this route I suggest mounting a flashlight to the bar so you dont decapitate your wife or kids. Target identification is important. Midwest Industries makes a chainsaw bar with m-lok.

It's not that intimidating.

Sounds like your problem is you have a piece of shite chainsaw.
My Husqavarna starts on the second pull every time, 3rd pull if i haven't used it in months.

I also would like throw out a good ax for home defense. The chainsaw is good for close quarters, but throwing an ax at an unsuspecting intruder will do the job too. Just try not to hit them in the head. Blade gets stuck in their skull and can be hard to pull out. Best to hit them right in the chest.
