I was looking at the pattern on the dress trying to find something inappropriate about the dress. Is the big deal over the side part? WTF?

quote:

“Central Private is a Christian based school and we have guidelines that we ask all our students and their dates to meet and they sign a contract and get it back to us. I trust our sponsors to handle all (the) guidelines students sign and they did.”

What does this even mean? Does the guidelines even address this? And why are Christians not able to wear a dress like that?

I know. It's the OT. People can't be bothered to actually read whatever is linked.

Did you ever get paddled by the principal with the paddle with the big arse confederate flag carved into it? You'd get sent to get the stars and bars tattooed on your arse for acting up Different times baw.

Its these strict rules that attempt to bottle up teenage libido that lead to Becky blowing the entire football team behind the dumpster and Wanisha being 7 months pregnant as she walks in her graduation.

Stupid but it's a private school. Take your daughter out if you don't like their rules.

Because and I'll quote my freshman year history professor "It would've lead to sex right there in the street"

Yeah. Stigmatizing sex is just counterproductive most times.

She covered the midsection cutoffs with flesh colored mesh. Flesh coloring is not actual flesh. If they don't want kids lawyering out of their rules, they should cover all ends.

Same reason American teens binge drink and French teens enjoy a nice Pinot Noir with their filet.

The worst way to stop teenagers from doing something is to tell them they can't do something.

Yeah, I think this girl deserves some extra credit for her ingenuity.

But it wasn't skin, it was nude colored cloth.

It was nude colored mesh, a bid different than a solid fabric. It's a dumb ruling, but if the entire dress was made of nude colored mesh, you'd get banned from TigerDroppings for posting it.

Maybe she did. But the rule was no skin showing. Nude colored mesh =/= skin.

While I agree with you 100%, I also agree with where Scruffy was going with his comment. Momma knew beforehand this was going to be a problem and even called seeking clarification and then went with a technically accurate way around the rule. What she should have done, with her daughters best interests in mind, is adhered with the SPIRIT of the rule and chosen a fabric that wasn’t flesh colored to cover up the sides. Momma knew damn well they were pushing the envelope and look what happened. But Momma gets to whine and raise hell on FB which I am sure makes her feel good. All at the expense of her kid.

God, I don't miss high school one bit. Freaking gestapo in these places. Even the public ones.

The "dumbest rule your school had" threads are always insane.

She was simply asked to cover the nude mesh with a belt or coat. It's not that big of a deal.

I never saw one of these threads, but now I am curious as to what are some dumb rules schools had so I think I will start a thread.

Seems to me like the chick was smart about picking her dress and got punished for it.

Adults ruin so much shite for kids. Now that I have kids and see it all first hand it's so true.

She also wasn't breaking any rules by wearing that dress.

If they wanted them to follow the spirit of the rule, don't just say skin. It's not hard to say skin and skin colored fabric.

At my private high school we weren’t allowed to have dances and the cheerleaders’ outfits looked like they were from “Hoosiers” but none of our parents bitched to the news. It’s a private school. If you don’t like their rules don’t go to their functions.
