although at the moment I forget if I was already out of Orleans and in Lafayette Parish when the 2010 census was completed (I think I was in Orleans for the 2010 Census but not 100% sure about it)

New Orleans population in 1960: 627,525

New Orleans population in 2020: 390,845

You aren't the only one that caused this. More residents have left New Orleans than there are PEOPLE in Shreveport.

TX and FL will save this country!

Most of the people from CA, IL and NY didn't die, they went somewhere.

And where they went is TX, FL, NC, TN etc.

And they took their votes with them.

New York state was 89 short of the threshold to NOT lose a seat. So they lost a seat.

Thanks Cuomo.

It came damn close to overtaking Caddo, but feel short by a few thousand.

Lafayette metro is likely larger than Shreveport metro now though. Baton Rouge metro added a parish. Hammond became its own metro area.

Seems like a great thing but the increase is due to all the progs moving there from California and other blue states.

The folks I've met were conservatives getting out of those states.

Except for one dude that had a pit stop in Austin for a few years every CA transplant I’ve met is Republican.

It already did a few years ago, they added Iberia Parish to the metro and it pushed us above Shreveport-Bossier.

Sobering fact:

New Orleans population in 1960: 627,525
New Orleans population in 2020: 390,845

New Orleans is down 236,680 people from its high water mark. It's still down 93,829 from the census before Katrina.

I mean that is just down on murders.
