David Duke knocked on my door when I lived in Bucktown asking me to vote for him.

I once stood at the urinal next to Nelson Bunker Hunt while he was at his urinal. No - I didn't look at it...

When I was a kid, Bob Hope did a show in Auburn. Me and a friend went down into the bowels of the Coliseum and found the dressing room and waited outside to get an autograph. Hope came out and told us he didn't give autographs before shows. I guess we looked disappointed, because he then asked us to walk with him to where he was supposed to wait to be introduced. He basically did a mini routine for us as we waited, asking if his tie was straight, telling us he was nervous, asking if we had any good jokes, and trying out some jokes on us, including one that only locals would get. We assured him that that one would be a hit, and it was. Then the announcer started his introduction, the spotlight hit him (and us), and he walked out to do his show.

I'll see your N. B. Hunt and raise you R. Lee Ermey.

Yep, Gunny and I pissed side by side at the 2014 NRA convention in Indianapolis.

I didn't look either.

Very cool story, Bob Hope was an absolute legend .

I sometimes catch his appearances on the old Tonight Show w/Carson on one of the retro tv channels, or on Utube.. he was so smooth and effortlessly funny.. but obviously , as we can tell from ur story, he put a lot of effort into making it look so easy.. i think all the greats are like that .

.

I went to grad school in LA and had tons of celebrity sightings there and in Scottsdale but probably the most interesting was while attending a Mike Tyson-Frank Bruno in Vegas at the Las Vegas Hilton in the late 80's. After the fight a group of us were at the bank of elevators to go to the casino level and I was in a group that included boxer Virgil Hill, who hooked us up with tickets. OJ was there with a small group and Eddie Murphy was there with a large entourage and there were a few others and all groups were oggling Bo Derek, who was standing there with some old geezer wearing a full-length fur coat, who I later found out was her husband. Gorgeous woman in person but she was tiny. I was fortunate to attend a few Tyson fights and some other major fights and the electricity at those event was incredible.

I had Thanksgiving dinner with Alan Thicke (Growing Pains dad). He was married to my best friend’s aunt who is from a small town in South Carolina. She won Miss Universe and he was the host.

I saw Vin Diesel at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I flew on a plane from DC to NO with John McLaughlin. We walked through the terminal near each other and he told the woman with him he needed to stop at a gift store and buy a souvenir for his niece (maybe granddaughter?). He walked straight to the cash register and started digging through a container of cheap ballpoint pens with ‘New Orleans’ written on them.

The band Nothing More used to play at The Caterie and Clicks in the late 2000’s. They used to always party at me and my roommates’ house after their shows. They have since hit the big time. I’m sure some of you were at those parties. They were epic.

I stood in line at Taco Bell behind Michael Damien around the time that his 15 minutes were peaking. He had a 2 person entourage and everything. Also saw a couple of members of Tesla in the same mall.

That's about it. Pretty sure that these brushes with fame can't be topped.

In the early 90s babysat Jay Thomas’s kids while he road in Orpheus. Watched the parade from the VIP stand at his hotel. John Goodman was there and 2 cases of Fosters deep. He almost dropped one of Jay’s kids as he tried to put him on Jay’s float.

I bluffed Ryan Dunn and a couple of his buddies out of a Texas Hold’em pot at the casino in BR when they were in town for Dukes of Hazzard.

Used to love Jay Thomas’ show on Sirius XM satellite radio.. listened to it almost every day while on the road for work, from around 2010-2017…. Haven’t found another show yet that’s as entertaining, sucked when he died .

Talked to Coach O about 3 minutes or so in a Jackson hotel a few years back. Got about 10 yards or so away from George H.W. Bush at an event honoring State grad and long time MS District 3 Representative G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery. That's all I've got.
