Nah I'm good. I already exited the area.

I worked in a building near that neighborhood on the overnight shift for 8 years. New Year's Eve and July 4th were fun times playing the fireworks or gunshot game.

ETA- The crazy thing is South Highland is a few miles up Line Ave and one of the nicer neighborhoods in Shreveport.

IIRC Spring Lake is adjacent to Cedar Grove too.

Lots of nice area car door handles getting checked by lots of bad area dwellers.

Yeah, got a couple of trail cameras set up around mine and my folk's houses to cover the driveways better than the security cameras.

Friend of mine grew up in Cedar Grove. He had several brothers, all played at Woodlawn. They were somewhat sports icons of the school at the time. I tell him that Leesville is playing Woodlawn in the playoffs here. He said he'll be there. I sit on the visitors side for each game and tell him where I am at and join me. He doesn't show up, and I see why.

I lived in Cedar Grove as a young child. My first sports experience was playing baseball for Cedar Grove in a SPAR league. We played at Roberts Park on Browning Street. There were lots of hardworking white folks in the neighborhood back then.

When I was in the 4th grade, we moved across town in search of a better life. The rest is history.

Yep.

Shreveport is a lot like Dallas in that you could be around a nice area then go 2 blocks over and be in a ghetto pocket.

Been that way since the late 70s. There was a riot there in the mid 80s.

we might know each other, it's kind of slipping a bit too, what I thought were very nice areas at the time you are describing are getting a bit run down, less kept up, and yes, a bit more trashy, not the 'hood yet, couple of new, nice developments have gone up over the past few years, maybe it's making a comeback

Cedar Grove is probably the quietest hood of Shreveport's hoods. If Shreveport wasn't shite, that would be a prime spot for gentrification. Unfortunately, Ollie Tyler is a carbon copy of SWB and Shitport is getting shittier by the day.

My great Grandparents had a house there and refused to move... even though my Dad begged and begged. One night we stayed the night because my Grandfather was not doing well and would not go to the hospital, that night was the first time I heard the zing and pop of a rifle round.

After they died, my dad refused to let the house become a crack house so we bulldozed it and let the lot go.

You brave MOFO. That is barely in Cedar Grove, if it actually even is. You can see Superior Grill from there. I think you technically need to cross 70th.
