This reminds me of marlin fishing. The crew takes care of the boat, tackle, knows where to fish, how to fish, hooks fish, wires fish, and some idiot takes credit for reeling in a fish that the crew really caught. Seriously, who wants to reel in a huge fish? Most crews don't.

Correct. The reserves are normally humongous and have multiple biologists working there who select which animals need to go. They are usually pretty good at managing the populations, and are mainly hurt by local poachers. Outside donations and hunts provide funds for the management.

National parks a similarly run, but just way more corrupt. Kind of like if you were to hunt alligators in New Orleans

These hunters are fortunately a dying breed. 100 years ago they'd get backslaps and envious looks from all of their male counterparts.

100 years ago there was a shite ton more honor in it, I'm sure.

Thankfully 90% of these pictures are total dweebs, I don't think anyone considers them particularly manly.

They do more to conserve than you ever will.

You completely missed my point.

If they have that much money to throw away and actually care about conservation, why not give it to conserve instead of killing one of the animals?

The fact is, they just want to kill one of those animals for their own vanity and use the huge bill as a guise that they are "conserving". Sure, usually the money does go to conserve, but why not conserve AND not kill?

This situation the guy is an illegal poacher and endangered an entire pride of protected lions. He should be fed to them.

No I didn't. Your point is just stupid. When done responsibly, these hunts offer a benefit to pretty much every party involved. Hell, even the aging animal gets to die quickly and painlessly.

And I acknowledged this case is not like what we were discussing.

Kinda messed up to ruin this guy's livelihood over an animal

The guy is a POS and I'll never understand hunting that isn't for food.

However, I agree. It seems a lot of people love animals more than humans. No forgiveness in our culture anymore. All liberals who grab their pitchforks at the first sight of any injustice.

Why not donate and not kill?

why do they have to kill the animal to justify donating money to conserve if their true intentions are to conserve?

That was my point, which you again missed.

Exactly! There are many situations when the internet goes nuts and in reality it was a mercy killing or any of the other circumstances mentioned. This just seems dickish.

Actually, no. Trophy hunting may be the only type of hunting we have some day. I despise it for personal reasons, but it's far from becoming extinct.

I didn't miss it. It's stupid. How about you give your hard earned money away for nothing since you clearly care about it so much?

Why do charities give things out for donating at certain levels?

I am no world saver. I just think its retarded for people to lie about why they do these hunts.

Just admit you want to feel like a man and kill an endangered lion that someone tracks down and spots for you.

Wait, would this offend posters in here too?

Because I legitimately have pics of the marlin I have caught.

This. People take internet shaming to incredible levels. It's like they're all trying to out-do the other and see who can punish this guy the most. It's a very disturbing part of our culture these days.

Nothing wrong with helping the environment, bro. I know in the south we're taught recycling is for libs and nature is for pussies, but all that shite is actually pretty commendable.

I don't have that kind of money nor am I claiming to be passionate about lion conservation like these people do.

Suites in a football stadium box = death of an endangered lion.

And still, if you really care about a charity and want to donate your money you shouldn't expect anything in return.

I think it's retarded to ruin a guy's livelihood for this. Fine him, jail him, whatever it is but it's over the top to drag him this much through the ringer.

Also there should be something done to prevent this from happening again.
