Tell me, how many religious people you know that are genuinely unhappy compared to how many non religious people? Do you understand that you can be very intelligent AND religious?

quote:

Lack of two-parent households, proliferation of social media and through that the desire for instant gratification in all things.

Furthermore, how many religious households are not two parent households? Religion, especially Christianity doesn’t teach one to work for what they get? I can’t speak on social media because it wasn’t around when the doctrine was formed.

Kids role models today are attention whores flaunting money and sex on the internet. Perfect, plastic images.

Read Greek Philosophy.

Become a stoic. It's better than religion.

I read that article. They were saying the inability of kids to get away from their bullies, and constantly seeing the things they are missing out on socially drove them to depression.

The constant inundation of stimulus is too much to handle for their developing brains.

they're also all narcissists who lack a world view

True.

It's ok to be average, middle class, bohemian, a ski bum or whatever you want to be as long as you can provide your own food and shelter.

Age limit on Facebook and other social media platforms. You can't use them until you hit the age of 18.

I think life has become too easy. There is no struggle anymore. Joe Rogan talks about it a lot his podcast. If you never experienice struggle you can’t find true happiness. Even worse, if have you have lots of free time it can lead to depression.

Kids need real hobbies, human interaction and goals.

Rogan is dead on. It's strongly affected kids problem solving and coping abilities.
I found this interesting

quote:

it should be no surprise that American creativity has simultaneously plummeted. In her extensive research on creativity, KH Kim of the College of William & Mary analyzed nearly 300,000 creativity scores on the well-regarded Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. She found that American creativity scores increased each year between 1966 until 1990. From 1990 on, however, creativity scores have steadily declined. Most concerning is Kim’s finding that the sharpest drop in creativity scores occurred in elementary-age children from kindergarten through 6th grade. Kim shares her startling findings in her book, The Creativity Challenge: How We can Recapture American Innovation. She writes:

quote:

The bottom line is this: Americans are less creative today than they were twenty-five years ago. Furthermore, this decline continues with no end in sight—Americans continue to become less creative over time.

You can see it in our art, particularly music.

I'll add the prescription meds being given to kids at a young age. Adderall, xanax, depression pills. These meds can be very dangerous.

I would also imagine there are more and more bad parents out there. Again, it's hard to tell how much is different and how much more we just see because of social media making it visible. But it blows my mind how many mothers I see basically using their infants and small children to rack up likes on various platforms. It's insane.
