Wait. So, are we listening to the CDC now? I've lost track.

Hang on. I'll check Trump's twitter to see how I'm supposed to react today.

Some of it is justified. Theres talk of having kids wear masks, sit far apart, not interact with each other directly. Trying that with a room of 5 year olds is going to be a total shitshow. Those kids need socialization and they need to run around outside for a little while every day. It's going to be very unproductive.

Some of it is absolutely justified... but mostly what I see is bitching about how they are going to be put at risk.

As if all sorts of essential workers haven't been working this whole time.

Greater than what? I’m open to listening to alternative view points, but this guy needs to address why it’s a greater health risk to leave kids at home.
He may know things you don't. Ya know, since he's a top ranking government official. I.e., that it's mostly a crock of shite and that there are very real, very serious consequences- much more serious than DaRona- coming down the pipe for us if we keep doing things like keeping kids out of school and from having truly vital, life-shaping socialization with other human beings.

He is a representative for the federal government, what in the year 2020 makes his viewpoint alternate? I thought Uncle Sam knows it all? Alternate my arse: The whole reason we've gotten into this mess is because we worshipped at the altar of the federal government's viewpoint.

Do not question, just follow the herd.

The question is no longer, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

Nowadays it's "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you?"

Some of the smartest, most well adjusted kids I know are homeschooled. And they have the bonus of not having brainwashed, propaganda being taught to them for 12 years.

It's almost like this agenda (stay at home order) doesn't align well with their other agenda (public school brainwashing), so they are scrambling to "ignore science" as they were preaching back when businesses started protesting to reopen.

Why do people make a claim like this but then don’t elaborate as to WHY keeping schools closed is a threat to public health.

WH daily press briefings have covered this topic in depth every day this week.

Agreed, but this is much different.

Parents are locking their children completely down in many cases.

The country has to open up and let the chips fall where they may.

He's not wrong. You can't just keep kids locked inside a house forever. They need to socialize and to learn.

Your kids locked up? Mine aren’t ... might be part of the problem

No one said you had to lock them inside. This is either people overreacting or trying to prove their point. I'd see social media posts saying "my kids can't even play in the yard, this needs to end". No one said that, dumbass. No one said you couldn't take a drive, or go for a walk, or go to the store. Just be smart about it.

Who are we listening to? If not cdc and Fauci.

Schools officials are clearly basing decisions off of media hysteria with no regard to data or the consequences of children staying home.

If only we had a person, like someone in a leadership position within government, who huddled with scientists, experts, health experts from other nations, and this person came up with an overarching plan that would properly balance public health needs with economic needs. That person could, in theory, have the country moving as one toward recovery through strong leadership, effective communication, and eliminating divisive, unproductive voices from the conversation.

That'd be pretty sweet to have a position in government for someone who could do all of that.

They also have home lives that lead to successful homeschooling.

My kids have been going to wrestling and baseball practices for the last 2 months. No reason they can't sit in school with other kids if they're allowed to play sports with them.

But by all means, let's have people continue to bash the President for saying the exact same thing. Not, here, but elsewhere.
