Can't forget all those Kenna Brah's taking their dream beach vacation/family reunion to Fontainebleau State Park. Not sure if they will be able to swing the extra two bucks to get back to the homeland.

The bridge between copenhagen and Malmo is about $50 EACH WAY, and it isn't even as long as the Causeway.

Oh yeah, I have heard of that. Never experienced it firsthand, although I have been to TX!
It's really convenient, but I easily lose track of how much all these damn Texas tolls cost over the course of the month.

For the out of towner's issue, not that big of a deal... it takes some getting used to, but they bill you by mail from your plates. After a while everyone gets used to it and gets the toll tag.
Hopefully the system communicates/reciprocates with the majority of other city systems, too.

Many places around the country have no cash tolls, they take a picture of your plate and mail you a bill.
Florida, Texas, CA and NY do this for sure.
I once paid a $17 toll to cross a bridge in New Jersey to Manhattan, but the tunnel back was free.

That's cool. That has to improve traffic so much.

My tag was low the other day so I tried to pay with cash and all I had was a $100 bill. The dude-lookin' lady with hairy arms promptly turned me around as not to mess up the pre-sorted bill stacks he/she/it had ready to hand out. Pretty typical.

You're welcome NOLA for all that tax money.

Can you feel the extra safety already? Sheesh, tens of cars have gone over the railings the last twenty years went over the bridge. This multi-million dollar tax effort should remedy that.

Thanks for the PSA. I had no idea and I'm taking the Causeway tomorrow.
Posted on 5/2/17 at 3:55 pm to When in Rome
what percent of that is going into local govt pockets?

If you currently pay cash, please consider switching to a toll tag.
Please don't.

but I don't think they could ever fully get rid of the cash option due to out-of-towners.
Houston is going the "frick the out of towners" approach.

Exactly, that's a great day to fill up my toll tag versus being a schmuck paying $2 extra on Saturday.
