Let me be the poster that says this sucks, and I along with every other driver speed getting onto the causeway when it is still 35 at the foot of the bridge.

I saw that cop there yesterday too...everyone around me was going 45-50mph. You are getting up to highway speed at that point and everyone is getting into position coming from 4 lanes to 2. It’s an absolute speed trap.

In St. Tammany, they pretty much downgrade any speeding violation to a seatbelt if you actually go to court. You may have to miss a day of work, but if your insurance costs are as high as mine it’s well worth it.

No clue how JP handles those situations.

Cars that go into the water are the Pickups and SUVs going 80 MPH + tailgating the entire bridge. But the Causeway refuses to address that issue.

here are more cops on there than any location in Louisiana.

Port Barre, Addis, Golden Meadow and Krotz Springs wave hello.

Well, they have started putting up a higher railing and they police and ticket people who speed heavily. I guess you can only do so much though because a few will get away with that kind of thing. Some tickets and fine amounts are BS, but if you're going 80 and tailgating on the Causeway, you deserve a $500 ticket.

I wish they’d be more aggressive in ticketing yo-yo drivers. Those frickers are the worst.

Slowing down to 50 mph at the crossovers doesn’t atone for going 78 between them. For the life of me I cannot understand why the worst speeders also slow down to well below the speed limit as they approach crossovers.

If they’d just set their cruise control to 68 and maintain a consistent speed the entire way they’d arrive at approximately the same time.

I often find myself passing the same assholes who tailgate and speed between crossovers when I approach crossovers because they slow down so far below the speed limit that it offsets their speeding the rest of the way.

We get off the bridge at the same time, the only difference being they speed heavily for portions and then slow down so much at crossovers that they become a hazard to other drivers while I drive safely and maintain a consistent speed.

They’re also running the risk of being pulled over whereas I am not. Yo-yo drivers are dangerous to everyone and deserve to be stopped and ticketed.

I agree with you. I usually do cruise control between 65 and 68 on there.

Well, I agree because that is a felony, so that would be an 893 I believe.

$410 total with $150 just in court costs even though I'm not even going to court?
That's nothing. I didn't realize my registration was expired driving in Metry - full fault on me.

$50 fine = $186 paid. Yes, almost 3x in fees above the actual fine. Smh.

I paid $250'ish for having my phone in my hand last time I crossed the bridge.

Agree. I drive it 5 to 6 days a week and set my cruise on 70. Never slow down unless one of these bridgeholes pulls this stunt! It never fails. It's the same jackass on multiple crossovers dropping below the speed limit and staying in the lest damn lane!!

Also, I never have issues with the CP at 70mph.

I am over due for a ticket between I-10 and the bridge enterance. I roll through there like a complete prick, but when I'm on the bridge I calm down.

Drove it every day for 6 years, never speed in those 35 zones, and never go more than 9 mph over the limit every where else.
