Cats can and will run away, just like dogs will. The dog is more likely to return when called. The cat will likely show back up when it's damned good and ready.
This is truth. I actually said this the other day. Our cat will not come when called, I had to use treats to train him to come when called.

All things associated with an attractive woman are cat related.

All things, ugly, she's a "dog", "bitch", "woof".

Catwoman wasn't dogwoman, for a reason.

Having had both, and will never own another pet, cats are absolutely more manageable and can be affectionate. Dogs are silly, loyal creatures. I love both.

I think most men truly love the "power" the loyalty of a dog is perceived to give. An animal who asks so little and loves without question. It's how they wish their human relationships were.

As we get in to winter, I do think of the horrible circumstances of dogs, up North, chained, in the cold, with no care. It is upsetting to think of.

My Aussie is a cat killer but I trained it out of her (other than on command, e.g. a feral cat attacking one of my outside cats).

When I lived in town, a couple of cats came out to "run her off." They only tried once.

You need the comfort of an emotionally shallow animal.

Also, FYI cats tend to eat on their deceased owners after only a few days when left in same house unattended. Dogs won’t do that.

I would want my cat to eat me to stay alive...have you not seen that movie about the plane crash.

Cats are independent. You don’t have to schedule your life around their shitting schedule.

I’ve always heard that if you die with your dog around the dog will lay with you until death. A cat will eat you.

I’m dog guy.

How long will a cat wait to eat you?
Without their owners around to fill their bowls, the pets often go unfed. In cases where these people owned dogs, their pets would usually go several days without resorting to eating the owner's body. However, a cat would only wait a day or two. The phenomenon is called "postmortem predation."

Another reason why cats are smarter. They will make sure they live while a dog hopes their owner wakes up from a weeks long nap

Cats won’t scare off bear and meth heads, if you live in the mountains and need such services.

I have dogs so don’t need to move. I think the bears would eat the meth heads if they tried to make it up here. These guys were hanging out at bottom of our hill the other night.

And I don’t think anyone is approaching from this angle. Plus they’d have to cross a river.

And the rat and corn snakes take care of the rodents.

All that said, I do want a barn cat or two.
