It is exhausting trying to figure out what images are real and which ones are AI.

I've found that with weather it helps to have a well vetted and curated Xwitter feed and to stay away from the "For You" feed at all costs.

Even then, with breaking news type events you're fighting a losing battle.

Official from NHC is 125 mph and 950 mb

Doesn't look like 125 to me, but what do I know.

Actually looks like its going to pass very near the highest peak in Cuba, 6000’ or so

That would completely shred the LLC

It could also ramp up the rainfall.

Damn. Should be some devastating video coming out tomorrow morning. I hope the early warnings prevented the casualties of other strong storms.

Avoiding the mesovortices in the eye is most of the battle. Those hooks are essentially tornadoes within the eyewall. They occur over the ocean, but really ramp up around landfall with the added friction of land. Some storms have them more than others depending on the nature of the eye. Houma during Ida experienced that reality.

It was a couple of mesovorts that did the majority of the damage to the bank building in Lake Charles during Laura. Mark Sudduth actually caught decent video of one of them in action, blowing out windows and sucking debris out into the blowing wind. He got it on one of his remote cams.

Good Lord
But you know, considering its proximity to ground zero, that's much better than I was expecting.

It looks like Melissa may be getting its second wind. Looking better and better on IR and the eye has cleared back out.

I just remembered there are crocodiles in Jamaica. Talk about a new hurricane fear unlocked.
