I’m a dog person, not a cat person, but I don’t know how people can be so heartless about their pets.

HuffPost

quote:

Things are looking up for a North Carolina cat who walked 12 miles to get back to his former home, only to have his owners surrender him to an animal shelter and ask that he be euthanized. Luckily for the fluffy orange cat, named Toby, the shelter refused to do so. Instead, they transferred him to another shelter — the SPCA of Wake County, where he was put up for adoption. The SPCA announced this week that Toby had found a new, loving family.

Sounds like the first shelter pawned their problem off on someone else.

People suck.
We are owners of a 12 year old dog that was just given up on because the family just didn't want it anymore.

I thought the name “Toby” meant “you stay put”?

Dante said the deepest circle of Hell was for traitors.

Someone who dumps a loyal pet for no good reason fits the bill.

My sister manages a shelter. This is not uncommon. They move pets to higher volume adoption locations to get them moved quicker to spare having to euthanize them.

I don’t agree with dumping loyal pets either but other side of the coin: Elderly pets are expensive and some people don’t have the money.

Should I get a husky? I live in Georgia, there are no trees in my backyard, and my wife refuses to let the dog inside.

I was trapping cats when I lived in Southdowns, because my neighbor had like 15. Brought one over the interstate to Bawell, dumped him off, and that mf'er was back the next day

Man I would think having a Husky in the south would be hard on the dog.

I got myself a lapdog, thinking I was gonna get something larger and more outdoorsy, but lapdogs are perfect for the climate I live in.

Why a husky specifically?

"Toby be good kitty massa."

People who are cruel to animals are the lowest form of human trash! Something is seriously wrong with someone who hurts, abandons, or mistreats a pet of their own or anyone else's! I've never been a cat person either but my Wife is and we have a few outdoor cats. I've actually grown attached to them and then two nights ago a neighbor shot one with a pistol around 10pm. I heard the shot and got up to go see what was going on since we live in the city limits and gun fire is unusual in our neighborhood. I opened the back door and see our cat laying by his water bowl bleeding out from a gunshot wound to his side. I was forced to finish what the POS who shot him started so that he wouldn't suffer anymore. I know which neighbor did it and I promise on all that is Holy, there will soon be a reckoning! I'm just biding my time till I can decide what the proper punishment is!

Bc they’re just cool dogs. And supposedly the heavy fur coat actually keeps them cool. Somehow. It’s science. And there is some shade, just not a lot and none at high noon. Bc I removed all the trees for some reason.

This is why you can't just leave cats outside.
I know they like it, but too many shithead s around that want to shoot shite, just to do it.

"Oh, that cat came on to my property and walked across the grass! The horror! Let me shoot it."

Don’t get a husky, it’s a high energy dog and if your wife is already dictating terms then the dog is screwed. Don’t do it

I wanted a Husky for a long time. Then I got a Pomeranian. I never thought I would ever want a small dog but from now on I think it's all I want. He can't hike like I want him too but that's the only downside.

ETA: I just realized TheOcean was referencing the other thread.

My wife won’t ever let it come inside and it’s going to be a big problem when the dog digs. But I really must have this husky.
