No hotels were hit here. The people next door to us here were saying they were not physically violent to either Mexicans or Americans/Canadians. The cartels were clearing all cars of people and drivers and moving the cars to intersections to block and burn. They were on an excursion and in the middle of it when it went down. A cab their friends was in was taken and burned.

Do you have access to enough food and alcohol? Those would be my main concerns.

So far we do. Staffing is an issue bc some are leaving and the roads are closed so no new staff can replenish. Hoping the roads open up somewhat later today.

Flights and transportation to the airport are a major concern. Might be stuck to this weekend, supposed to be flying out today.

That is surprising as this group is known to be hyper violent. They were the same ones taking shots at airplanes awhile back

There are troubling reports coming out of Puerta Vallarta and other parts of Mexico that narco-terrorists are hunting down American citizens. The drug cartels should be aware that if any American citizen is harmed in Mexico there will be a violent and terminal retribution from the US. Any USMCA negotiations should cease until this situation is resolved.

I'm convinced some of you retards think "the cartel" is a workplace that has a company uniform and reports to work Monday through Friday from 9-5

Anybody that thinks it's just as simple as using "military technology" to identify and take out tens of thousands of people at all levels - from your common street dealer to the chief of police on the cartel payroll, to corrupt government officials - has never been military or law enforcement. This is not something you can just "eliminate targets" your way out of.

Our best defense that would put a serious strain on cartel operations would be to lock down our borders and coasts at all costs. The Southern border would need to be impenetrable and coasts heavily guarded with serious firepower. You take away the American drug market and that puts a bigger damper on the cartels than killing 100s of their leaders.

Exactly. I would also add that part of the equation requires improving the Mexican economy as well. Cutting off the illegal drug trade to the US plus viable alternatives for income fix a lot of the problems. The thing is it's not a overnight fix, it'll take a generation or more to get better. In the interim targeted strikes on leaders help. At some point you will reach the equilibrium were the rank and file aren't incentivized to sign up to die anymore, but there are 1000's that are too far gone at this point.

So I follow cartel stuff pretty closely and very ever video I've seen where they have an "arrestee" (hostage), they always claim they are for the common man.......except when they don't pay their tax. And when a thief crosses their path, it's a brutal execution. One baw had his hands cut off then while he was crying, they domed him. Yikes.

This is why the alleged threat of strikes on hotels wasn't their typical MO. Hope you guys remain safe baw

I agree that its a complicated situation, yet its also as simple as this: as long as there are billions of dollars to be made from U.S. citizens buying drugs, then the problem will never be fixed.

I imagine that most cartel members, especially those in leadership positions, expect that they will eventually experience an untimely demise.

I would think they have the same mindset as the average criminal. I won’t get caught like everyone else because my plan is better. Then they all eventually get caught or killed.

It’s crazy how much of the world has stuff going on like this that is sorta known but almost impossible to fix.

My town (The Woodlands) has had a large presence of mid and upper class Mexicans moving here over the past 25 years to escape the fear of living in Mexico with a family. Good people that saw the writing on the wall long ago.

This has always been the way to proceed. There have been people suggesting this for a long time and even in the last campaign. They have always been ignored though because everyone runs around with their hair on fire for someone with either a D or an R next to their name.

Louisiana State Police arrested the head of a Palos Verdes-based disaster recovery company Thursday on suspicion of stealing more than $320,000 from victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Steve Slepcevic, the 41-year old founder and chief executive officer of Paramount Disaster Recovery Inc., evaded authorities for days before arriving at St. Tammany Parish courthouse in a white 7 Series BMW to turn himself in,

quote:

His former business partner and Paramount attorney Matthew Todd was arrested in California early Monday morning and is in a Los Angeles County jail awaiting extradition to Louisiana. Another former Paramount employee, Michael Mekeel, 38, has agreed to turn himself in to authorities in the coming days, Adams said.

The three are accused of conspiring to use forged checks to steal insurance proceeds from hurricane victims, according to warrants and an affidavit filed in early September. Slepcevic is also accused of four counts of money laundering, the court records say.

The arrests come two months after a Times investigation found that Paramount had left a trail of fraud complaints, lawsuits and government investigations from Mississippi to California over the last decade. Slepcevic and his company have eluded authorities thanks to lackluster enforcement and the loose web of state regulations that govern roving insurance adjusters and contractors known as storm chasers, the investigation found.

quote:

“They took my insurance check and kept the money,” said Danny Denoux, a former New Orleans police officer who filed one of the complaints against Paramount. “While my wife was cooking on a hot plate on the second floor for a year because we had no kitchen, I’m sure [Paramount employees] were basting on the beach with my . . . money.”

Adams, who was assigned the case last September, said he was surprised that other law enforcement agencies had not pursued the case sooner. Authorities he contacted in two other states said they were not doing anything, and the local FBI office told him “it’s a California issue,” Adams said.

“It’s not a complex scheme,” Adams said. But “when they cross state lines, they make it difficult for these agencies to chase them.”

I looked at their website last night. and immediately noticed the absence of anything about their background. Groups like this are usually quick to hype military/LEO/SOF connections.

I wonder if most Mexican folks know someone well or have family members that are involved with the Cartels? They are so big and make so much money and are so engrained into society and politics, I assume everyone knows someone in a cartel or at least being paid by cartels.

Probably depends on location. In Mexico City, probably not. In Jalisco, almost certainly.

Still sounds better than being in Disney World.

I just got back from Disney World. Went 2 weeks ago. I'd never been. I thought it was cool. We had fast passes for the majority of rides but the walking sucks. A billion dollar corporation should have rubber matting over the concrete.

It's expensive as shite though. Could have taken the family to Turks and Caicos for cheaper.
