I've said for a year now, the current problem isn't the pumps. You can have all the pump capacity in the world, if you can't get enough water to the pumps, it is useless.
After this last flood event I said it wasn’t the pumps. I figured it had something to do with the water being obstructed in the canals and couldn’t get out quick enough and that pressure to the pumps couldn’t pump out the water fast enough.
Had nothing to do with the pumps.
Now my question is do you know exactly where these cars were found in what specific location in reference to where the pump station is? If anyone has that could they please post a map with a pin?

The one right before that

The S&WB is a legislative subdivision of the state, so the members are put in by the state legislature.
By statue, the president of the agency is the Mayor of New Orleans.
quote:
The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans' eleven member Board of Directors consists of the Mayor, the chair of the Public Works, Sanitation and Environment Committee of the New Orleans City Council or his designee, two representatives of the Board of Liquidation, and seven citizen members, of which five represent council districts and two consumer advocates and one of the appointments shall be a retired civil engineer
It's past time for the agency to be dissolved and all functions transferred to the city's public works department.

they said it was in the underground canal which is under Jeff Davis Parkway in mid city. That water would get pumped to the Orleans Ave / 610 Pump station and eventually out the orleans canal into the lake.

That culvert looks to have over 20' of clear span. If there is a road on top it is considered a bridge and should be inspected every two years.

It's got neutral ground above it... except for where cross streets run across it.

There’s a map in the NOLA.com article. I can’t link from my phone. Maybe someone else can

Is this where they go when they fall into giant potholes?

Where exactly would one find an access to an underground tunnel that only gets inspected every 15 years?
.......,,asking for a friend.

Thinking of making a move? You could pick trashier areas of New Orleans, no doubt.

Are you new to the city or just not actually reading?
I will say my favorite part is they estimated just viewing this single 3 mile canal that is for long stretches visible from land will cost 100k BEFORE removing a single piece of trash.
That’s 100k to run a camera through it.

I want to know how they got in the drainage pipes???
This is what happens when kids flush their Hot Wheels down the toilet. They get into the sewer system and grow into full-size cars and clog the drains.
