Have you tried an independent agent? Supposedly they shop rates for you and get you the cheapest company.

Dropped State Farm after 25 years. Then a couple of months later, the State Farm agent called to find out my new carrier since her customers were having massive increases and looking for new insurers too.
Insurance companies have been a complete scam.

Talk to your legislators who claimed the new tort reform would bring prices in line....and your no count Insurance Commisioner....Jim Donelson.

Inflation plays a part no doubt but there's probably some opportunism on the part of the carriers.

Mine did that too. One 15 min phone call and it was less than it was before with same coverage. They just hope you are too lazy to call.

Make that 3 years. If you tell an agent you've been a loyal customer for X years, it just means you're paying way more than you should and he's made renewal commissions off you for that long. If you like your agent or if your agent is family, park it somewhere else for 6 months or so and wait for the price to reset.

Funny how my car is worth less now, but my insurance is higher.

Insurance is expensive because of liability not physical damage coverage.

I’ll be getting updates rates for both car and health insurance in the next few weeks …. expecting the worse. I am never sick and barely drive guess I have to “pay my fair share” (feels like I pay way too much)

I’m pretty sure that’s just the “you live in a crime ridden shithole” tax. Mine hasn’t changed at all.

Shop around every 5 years. There's no benefit in being a loyal customer anymore because they're gonna shaft you regardless

No true. Some companies offer major accident forgiveness if you are with them for X amount of years. When my 18 yr old daughter got in a wreck it was 75% her fault. I had been with progressive for 6 years. Once you hit 5 for them you get a major accident forgiveness.

I switched to Geico a year later and lowerd my premium.

Car insurance renewal up 65% Bidens* America

You are an idiot. Florida homeowners insurance premiums have nearly doubled under Desantis since he entered office. Is that Bidens fault, Trumps fault, Desantis’ fault? Who should I sky scream to?!?

Any of them, just make sure you blame a politician and not the companies who have you over a barrel.

Rates going up

quote:

Schexnayder's bill changed Louisiana’s civil litigation rules in an effort to lessen the amount of money people can win against insurance companies and businesses in car accident lawsuits. Opponents called it a giveaway to business that damage injured people’s ability to receive adequate compensation.

quote:

Republican Louisiana Insurance Commission Jim Donelon, a member of the task force, on Monday defended his testimony last year supporting the 2020 bill in which he suggested rates could drop by 25% if the legislation passed. "It was a pure guess," he said of the specific amount of projected savings. "I did not promise (a 25% drop) as opponents of the bill claim."
