I was about to say there is nothing cool about being an alcoholic.
But in his case, I'll just shut my damned mouth.

For any fans of the series Band of Brothers, there is a great podcast they did this past year talking with a lot of the actors who filmed and their experiences. Definitely worth the time.

At least the show stuck to the truth, the episode when they took over Hitlers mountain top home and he walks into that wine cellar was great.

I wonder if the movie is correct that he never fired a shot in the war. Not sure how that would be possible with everything he saw. (3 combat jumps)

The series was absolutely fantastic and the book is even better.

Nixon is such a great story in himself. Surprised the series doesn’t focus more on him than it does.
One of my favorite lines was when Winters was demoting him due to his alcoholism. Nixon was somewhat shell shocked about half of the group he was leading getting blown up in the air. “Oh they blew up over Germany somewhere. Boom!” The way he said it was sarcastic but also incredibly dark.

IIRC, when Easy made it to the eagles nest, Winters gave Nixon the go ahead to raid Hitler’s alcohol stash ahead of anyone else. He brought home a truckload of the finest wine and champagne you could imagine.
I couldn’t imagine how poetic that would be.
