Statement from the Sheriff.

LINK

quote:

My orders to Higgins was to, ‘tone down’ his unprofessional comments on our weekly Crime Stoppers messages and had nothing to do with the Gremlins video that appeared on the networks. I agree with the Gremlins video. First of all; I repeatedly told him to stop saying things like, ‘you have no brain cells, or making comments that were totally disrespectful and demeaning. Second; Clay Higgins appeared on the cover of a local magazine in full dress uniform without my approval and permission. That too is something he didn’t like me controlling.”
As Sheriff, it is my duty and responsibility that the message going out to the public be professional, on point and truthful. The public needs to remember the department public information officer is a spokesperson for the sheriff and represents the sheriff’s words, thoughts and message. If Clay Higgins cannot agree with my words, thoughts and message, then he is correct in resigning his position.

I didn't realize Higgins appeared in ads for security companies. I wonder if that was sheriff approved. Sheriff is getting a lot of backlash over this from what I've seen on Facebook.

If he runs for sheriff next election, he's got it in the bag.

He could be Louisiana's version of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

I know the LEO's I've talked to are all glad he retired. We hated his grand standing WWE style tough guy act.

Always felt like he was trying to create a character to become famous. Instead of being professional, he came off more as a meathead.

Sounds downright reasonable. It's a shame that he'll probably fail to get reelected because all of the St. Landry man-children will be pissed that they can't watch a uniformed police officer call people stupid. I'm sure there are a lot of tear stained affliction shirts tonight.

Sheriff Guidroz doesn't want to take a chance of losing the black vote when it's time for re-election. Or perhaps, some jealousy surfacing?? What else can it be?

Captain Higgins is among the best things that ever happened to the sheriff's department and his parish. He's done nothing illegal or immoral.

Bobby Guidroz is protecting his AA vote and his department. I really don't think that it's jealousy being that his resume is far more impressive than most men in his position. If he shut this all down you can bet that there was good reason. Mr. Guidroz is a good man and from what I've always heard a damn good sheriff.

9 hours later and I have returned to this thread, and judging by my post from the first page, it would appear there are 62 patriots and 6 pussies that have viewed my comment. I'll take that ratio any day

Yeah Acadian Home Security, also does one for a construction company as well as fundraising commercials for KATC. He's all over the TV in Acadiana

Maybe a Sheriff who wants his subordinate personnel to conduct themselves like a professional, in a manner befitting a representative of a government that serves the citizens?

Boom! I can understand the comments how he is not liked within the department.
