Seems clear as day to me that the SHERIFF was feeling threatened for his job in the next election.

Higgins was a snowball rolling down hill and a media and public darling.

I'm not surprised at all. It sucks that he's leaving because of what he said, but he should have known better than allow himself to be part to that video. In today's society, people are just a bunch of pussies.

FIFY.

I am not saying he did. But his resigning is pussification, especially after the video. He should have stood behind it.

That's debatable. He went on tv and challenged people to a gun fight. As funny as it was, it was a stupid thing to say, and someone failed him by not pointing that out.

When they do a Full Metal Jacket remake, I think they have their R. Lee Ermey cast already

ETA- maybe CMT will give him a show

A show about what? He's nowhere near as "interesting" without his job as a deputy.

Wondering if this had anything to do with the new commercial I saw him in this weekend endorsing some house shoring company?? That seemed semi unethical since he was rocking a badge and such.

Was he an actual cop, as in had a regular shift just like any other officer, or was he just the spokesperson for the department?

Would he win in an election? Mayor, sheriff, state rep?

This was my only issue with the video when I caught the first run on the evening news. Was taken aback by the brazen call out by him to challenge the thugs to a gunfight. I get that was his schtick but you don't see too many PR cops threatening to mow down wanted suspects with "superior firepower" like he did....

But then again... Higgins didn't have full editorial control over these videos. I've got to believe his superiors signed off on everyone he did or at least were in the loop especially this last big one. I'll be interested to see what the true reason is for this resignation.

He was a "regular cop" until he got promoted to the PR gig... Still a card carrying deputy though I believe.

I'd think so and I wouldn't be surprised if he ran.

I don't see this shirt on his website anymore, but it was probably the straw that broke the camel's back.

How long until he and Elbert Guillory are available for a nominal fee to show up to your fundraiser and chastise black folk willy nilly?
