This is so dumb. He made a video. And if he had strayed so incredibly far away from message they could have redone it prior to release.

To be fair, you really shouldn't be calling people out on tv if you are a sheriff. I realize the era of the quite professional is coming to an end, but our police force has no business making the kinds of statements he made.
The superior firepower thing rubbed me the wrong way, especially considering if someone did decide to shoot it out with that department, he wouldn't have been the one returning fire. If I can't challenge the police to a shoot out, they shouldn't challenge residents. Pretty simple really.
I don't blame the guy for what he did but someone should have explained the potential backlash.

Actually it wouldn't surprise me at all if he resigned willingly. The guy obviously had a huge ego and was using his law enforcement career to become a local celebrity. Seems like the kind of guy that if asked to recant his statements or tone down his message I'm pretty sure he would have just gotten pissed and stormed out because he thinks he's Gods gift to law enforcement. I realize people liked the videos but he seems like the kind of a-hole that would never think of writing a warning ticket and would be all for checkpoints. I'm sure he got many huge hard ons and slept real well at night after ruining lives over simple shite like marijuana.

Has it ever occurred to you that everyone in that department could be an idiot? Just because nobody at the sheriffs office said it was a bad idea, does not mean it was not a bad idea.
