Where’d you switch to when you switched away from Capital One?

In these situations, do people switch to smaller, more local banks or even bigger behemoths?

My Dad is in his 80’s. He is computer savvy but likes to do business in person. He called them to open some CD’s as they had a good rate. They told him he had to do that on-line. He told them to get lost.
Capital One has lost their way.

I switched to Advancial Credit Union. I get points on debit purchases, all ATM fees reimbursed and they credited a $13k check that I mobile deposited the next day.

With that said, I am trying to open a business checking account and having a tough time.

I switched from Crapital One when they told me safe deposit boxes were no longer available at the downtown BR branch. Switched to Chase.

Personal checks from tenants

Could be a covid/eviction moratorium/rent frickery related policy that you just happen to be swept up in.

There is probably a non-zero amount of landlords who have gotten fricked with bad checks throughout this ordeal.

I remember when Capital One only did credit cards and auto loans. Their first "bank" was when they bought Hibernia. It was announced just before Katrina. The plan was to keep the Hibernia name on the bank and for all future bank acquisitions.

Then Katrina hit and the deal changed, and the new deal changed the bank name to Capital One Bank.

Soon after the deal closed, I had some issues with my Hibernia accounts and we closed them.

I have an old credit card with them that I still keep and use 1-2x a month just to keep the history and account age. I also have had auto loans with them and honestly those have been fine.

Is this one time or for all future deposits? Have they identified specifically what amounts / check writers they are worried about?

Perhaps they have had bounced checks from those check writers.

They aren't much for customer service. Just find a new bank.

We had similar issues at BOA about 3-4 weeks ago we’re we had a bunch of deposits from customers we processed remotely and they were delaying them hitting the account.

I called my BOA rep and told them we needed those deposits immediately as we had a hefty PR in a couple of days. They all cleared within 24 hours. Tried to ask the rep why they got delayed and he had no answers. We haven’t had the issue since.

Hancock tried to hold an cashiers check on me last week for 7 days which i think is illegal. The bank it was from was literally next door. They acted like they were doing we a favor by depositing it

I've begun the process of moving all money from Cap1. I have several business account which take much longer to change but it will be done one day for sure. I've not like what I've seen with Cap1 for a while. On top of that, having a racist as a spokes person should have killed this company years ago.

I got a Cap1 account to deposit cash from serving/bartending in Louisiana when I was in school since you heathens don't have BofA in LA. I have been too lazy to swap back to BofA but the early direct deposit that happens 50% of the time makes me go from 7 days between deposits to 9 days which is incredibly annoying when you have autopay or automatic transfers to other accounts set up.

I think they were sketched out by the checks from Senator Dr. Kumutru Obogala from Lagos. I think they've had some issues recently with checks from Nigerian Senator Doctors.

Community banks = business owner option

Credit union = retail client option

Megabank option = pure convenience and no lending need and/or credit card prodict only. This only becomes viable if you have a net worth of 50M or more liquid for complex banking needs. Still not optimal unless you are going public in the next decade though IMO.

Online bank: I work in tech and rent an apartment and never touch cash. Instead of investing I prefer .10% more interest

Not sure why anyone would want to bank with Capital One at this point.

Overnight Interest rates are up. The longer they hold it the more they make.
