Pro. Both have Grandma's non-updated house for cheap.

Old Goodwood > Capital Heights

Larger homes
Bigger lots
More of a residential flavor
Better landscaping

Capital Heights isn't cheap, at least for BR.

Old Goodwood has bigger lots usually. Capital Heights is more cottage style(smaller) houses.

Capital Heights is more pedestrian friendly with the walk/bike path one way and government st right there.

Capital Heights probably a little bit more young adult populated. The houses all look old in comparison to Old Goodwood but are closer to Government Street which is not as terrible as it once was. I've heard of some weird things happening even in the nice parts of Capital Heights, but I wouldn't mind living there. However, I like where I'm at now.

Old Goodwood is the better choice but the homes are going to be more expensive.

They’re both legacy neighborhoods in the middle of town. South of capital heights street has some of the grandest houses in town and a decreasing amount of fixer uppers. .. old goodwood is very similar as they both have lots of big lots and some opportunities albeit expensive ones to remodel or build new.

I had a one bedroom apartment on Hebert between Capital Heights and Govt when I was at LSU.

I rented it from Wendy and Wayne. Good people. Place was great.

Steele area is nicer than both Old Goodwood and Capital Heights. There are some very nice homes tucked in there.

Eh depends on what OP is looking for

If I was in my twenties and didn’t have kids give me Capital Heights

These days I’d prefer Old Goodwood

I grew up in that area of BR...whoever is down voting..pay no attention..as they don't know what the hell is going on there. Steele is very nice as is Old Goodwood.

Government street is hopping, and really you're basically right there from either Old Goodwood or Cap Heights.

Lots of good restaurants of different types within walking distance in Capitol Heights (Superior Grill, Bistro Byronz, La Caretta, Mid City Beer Garden, Hannah Q, Monjuni’s, Rocca Pizzeria, Curbside, JED’s Poboys, Reginelli’s, Soji)
I live half a block from Capital Heights Ave.
In the early evening there is a steady stream of attractive women walking/jogging/biking by if that’s something you would enjoy.

i lived in goodwood from 1979-2001 and have been in capital heights since then. still own property in each. capital heights lots are 40 x 120 almost universally. Goodwood starts at 75 x 175 and varies a great deal. Goodwood is developing mcmansions with f-350s, suburbans, golf carts and bowhead little girls. Not much community when i was there, but seems to be changing. it's more upscale.

capital heights is younger, with lots of activity on bike and pedestrian paths. it's generally less expensive than Goodwood, but the per sq. ft. prices are comparable (both stupidly high.) much better community feel, but no room for the fords and suburbans to park. we have walkable bars, grocery, restaurants and live music. capital heights is weird. goodwood doesn't welcome weird.

being weird personally, and having an ex in goodwood, i pick capital heights
