Judging by his use of "organically" and "swaggy bros" I'd guess Denver or some where else in the west.
As to how to make friends, it does get more difficult as you get older. Meetup groups aren't really lame since they are people who have a common interest, so I'd at least go to one and see what the crowd is like.
Also you should take dancing lessons, that will keep you in shape, allow you to meet people and will be a fun skill to learn.
Join a sports league..go to work functions..there's gotta be some good choices there

Does anybody else have any ideas of how to organically meet swaggy bros in a new town? Meetup groups seem kind of lame but I'm pretty desperate at this point. like i said, join a crossfit gym. EVen if its just for a 3 months, you can meet a ton of people of both sexes

Just deal with it. You will never be able to connect with her on that level that the professor is on.
She's with you, that should be enough. She's made her decision. If she wanted to be with him she would be. You'll only do harm by acting jealous and trying to limit her contact with him.
If you tell her not to associate anymore with him then that will absolutely ensure that he ends up smashing that.

I think this is what I've settled on. I am going to be creative. I found his GF's twitter and noticed some things that may help me break the ice with her for when I (hopefully not for a long time) have to hang out with her grumpy arse again.

Realize the blatantly obvious, she likes this other guy. Tell her what's up and if she is difficult about it, walk your arse out the door.
Respect yourself and associate yourself with a woman who respects you. Your current gf clearly does not.

I may try this Lester, but I already have my workout routine that I enjoy so switching to something completely different is something I'd like to avoid. Maybe add boxing or kickboxing instead so that I could more or less keep my same routine.

Just wanna chime in and say that OP is a fricking schmohawk with insecurity issues.

Tell him that you used to buttfrick a guy in prison that was in his field, and you're really interested in what he does. That'll throw him off

You are going to have to pee on him or his personal "claimed" space one way or the other.
It's the only way.

Well, both are banging the OP's gf- so they have that in common

Ask the guy for a favor. Appeal to his innate need to feel superior. Be gregarious. Self-deprecate. After he does one favor, make sure to shower him with praise and thanks publicly. This will feed his ego. Then ask him for another favor. Because he has done one, he will be more inclined to do another, and before you know it, this guy is getting your shine box for you. The guy your girlfriend "worships" (likely only your perception) is now your errand boy.
This is a psychological effect known as the franklin effect - LINK
Quit playing games with people on their terms. If something doesn't work for you, change tactics. You can't always out alpha someone. Be smarter. Find what works for you. Turn strengths into weakness. There is no pull stronger than the ego.
You're welcome. Also, in the words of weezer, "want a girl who laughs for no one else." If she likes this guy there is nothing you can do. If you think it's really a thing- cut her loose. Someone out there wants you as bad as she wants him.
