Can't sleep

Friends, does anyone have any recommendations for lack of sleep. I've tried melatonin, Tylenol PM, you name it. Alcohol is totally out of the question since I'm about 60 days sober. Don't want to take anything with cannabis because of drug testing at work. Should I consult with my physician? I think it could be years of working nights. Thanks

Yes, consult with your physician.

Give it some more time. It will get better.

How physically active are you?
I don't need that much sleep, 5-6 hours a night. I do sleep a bit more (better) if I'm more physically engaged like a long hike or a couple hours of yard work. I worked overnights for many years but I've flipped over to an early riser (normally in bed/asleep before 10pml). It takes time to adjust..

Insomnia check-in. Sounds like your body clock needs a re-set. Seek expert advice and help.

Maybe exercise and check your diet. Are you drinking caffeine during the day?
DO NOT go to a doctor/drug dealer. They’ll make it worse.

I can send you recordings of my wife telling stories.
I listen to music when I can't sleep.

Biggest for me was changing routine. No food within 3-4 hours of bed time, plenty of physical activity and caffeine only in the morning. Also no phone or tv when it’s time to sleep.
*none of this mattered when I was younger.

Try a documentary by Ken Burns.
But also, if you’re relatively newly sober, this may be a temporary side effect. I had a friend who went clean after an 8 bourbons a night habit and he suffered weeks of insomnia that almost killed him.
Make sure to get a lot of exercise. Also do some tart cherry juice and magnesium before bed.

Just keep giving your body more time to adjust, it takes awhile.
Get exercise and stick to a normal schedule, since you said you also used to work nights. It will come.

Walk 4 miles a day, plus some light weights a few times a week in between. Take Sundays off

One cup of coffee a day, that's it. No energy drinks. Besides alot of water, the only thing I drink is soda water with cranberry
