At 1 pm today, the national weather service out out a graphic saying a “reasonable high end estimate” of 7.5 inches of rain later today and tonight for NOLA.

The real issue is the local Mets don’t know how to forecast anymore. All they can do is parrot the NWS and post model runs

There’s a good chance it hardly rains a drop in New Orleans through tonight but Baton Rouge is getting dumped on.

There was an event canceled today in my town because of risk of adverse weather. The promoters told the vendors no refunds. People are bent.

And it’s been a beautiful day all day.

You can't admit you were wrong and are now misattributing expectations to me.. Character flaw. I didn't say anything about forecaster accuracy.

Wrong about what? They rescheduled the festival based on projections it was gonna pour all over South Louisiana today and it sure as hell is.

That's why David Bernard quit. They started calling him a feegit for the missed forecast

It was an awesome day today. Partly cloudy and overcast. Slight breeze. Light rain started about 6:00pm.

The no refund thing is making the social media rounds.

Guess you missed the point of the entire thread. “In an abundance of caution” comes from politicians that cancel things for us. Sorry you missed the point.

FTR I am not mad about anything. Just notice things around me.

It might have been bad in BR, but it's only been lightly raining since 5pm on the northshore.

Kind of funny to see the app saying there are thunderstorms here and I look up and it's blue sky and white clouds.

When did this begin? We have events being canceled now before a drop of rain even hits the ground.

I noticed this when the weather channel started hurricane coverage. Their marketing people figured out that fear sells! I think it then spread to local broadcasts to compete for market share.
Im not going to waste my time posting all the memes of the weather channel overly dramatic broadcast with locals walking behind or the Classic Anderson Cooper kneeling in a ditch.
Seems like a St Patrick's day parade was cancelled today in NOLA. An 18 wheeler load of produce was given away to second harvest and parade organizations lost lots of money.

These weather readers on TV get off on the fear porn.

It’s a pretty good town. Close to a lot of stuff. Good golf courses and great outdoor activities. It really is a nice place to live/raise a family/retire.

Agree. People are afraid of rain now. They think they will melt if they get wet. I guess they’ve forgotten what umbrellas are for and waiting for it to slack up.
