After reading this thread and thinking about it more, I'm kind of changing my view a little.

It's not apples to apples to compare celebrating death with going after people for old jokes.

The point I was trying to make is that people only care about words when it fits their side and I do still believe that.

However, there are some truly stupid people out there and whatever they get, they get.

Anyone dumb enough to publicly post shite like that pretty much has it coming so frick em.

Cancel culture from the left meant having anybody with views that opposed theirs fired and ostracized.

The current efforts that I’ve seen are against people in positions with public institutions, people who work with kids, and people who are responsible for providing healthcare, who have celebrated or expressed support for the cold blooded murder of another human being. A person like that shouldn’t be in the positions described above.

I wouldn’t be surprised if one of those fired was a teacher for the assassin.

This is two separate countries now. The values, beliefs and lifestyles of the two are at complete polar opposites.

I watch a video of the cities on the coasts and it seems like a different world.

I don't get it and it does't even look like America to me.

However, I don't think as a country it's good to have this good vs evil mindset.

And my concern in bringing this topic up is to not let us slip further into the tit for tat environment we're in now.

Yes, celebrating Kirk's murder is disgusting and personally, I really don't care when stupid people get what they have coming.

However, there will be a time when the Left is in power again and retribution will come.

We're just in a constant cycle of power now with whatever party controls the government does whatever they want and then when they lose the other side reverses everything and we never really get anywhere.

again, agree with everything here...

Anyone celebrating the Kirk murder is a sick individual. But it's kind of ironic that people are now scouring social to find anyone posting anything about it and then emailing their employers.

So I don't want my doctor, nurse, or kid's teacher to be stupid and sick enough to celebrate someone's death publicly

OP. Are you a liberal? Because it’s the Libs who, time and again, whine at a high pitch the second the Right uses any of the tactics the Left so willingly wields.

It’s (D)ifferent when the Left does it!

*Noted that my iPhone capitalizes Left but spell corrects Right to lower case.

Those who don't celebrate in private should face the consequences then.

Hell no. They lost their way years ago when they went off the rails.

I really don't have a party that represents my views.

I'd say today I lean much more conservative with a few exceptions.

Figuratively, of course (at this point).

10000000000% agree...

so, in your opinion, does the current idea of going immediately back at the other side (in this case, the "left), is that smart? at what point do we as society, regardless of political affiliation, say okay enough of the escalation in rhetoric, insults, disparaging, etc, and it's time to start meeting in the middle on more issues than always trying to score points or political wins? b/c what we currently doing isn't working and will not be sustainable...

exact way i feel as well..... both of them have good ideas from time to time, but i find both of them so hypocritical, that neither one of them are any good IMO..

a lot of people here just can't understand how you can't be for one or the other, but it is ENTIRELY possible

You watch too much TV dude.

This was a poltiical assassination. There are no "sides." There is a right, and there is a wrong, period.

You people lack innate abilities, morality and social intelligence and cannot fricking read the room if it would save your life.

My point in all of this was to discuss the slippery slope we're on now as a society where everyone is actively pursuing opportunities to frick over those who disagree with them and that both sides do now actively engage in it.
Got any proof of conservatives trying to get liberals fired simply because they have a political disagreement or are you really just mad that people are being fired for celebrating a summary execution in front of thousands of college kids? You deserve a medal for how dumb this post is. As long as you aren't a piece of shite online people have nothing to worry about. Not hard.

again, when is it time to stop going back and forth and for one of the two sides, preferrably both, to say enough, accept responsibility for their actions in the escalation to where we are now, and to try a different approach? after the NEXT assassination?

The opiates destroyed your brain.

There is no moral relativism here Junior. It was a political assassination of a man doing exactly what you retards have been asking for, open dialogue.

Your attempt to deflect with this idiotic moral relativism is beyond pathetic. You deserve all the crap you will get here.

This is a clear issue of right and wrong. Not "Misgendering" some retarded purple hair.
