Canadian woman is taking her nephew to court over a CA $1.2 million (£690,000) lottery jackpot win, announcing “Tyrone is getting nothing from me” as the pair were presented with the over-sized cheque.
Barbara Reddick, from Guysborough in Nova Scotia, arrived for the presentation ceremony on Thursday afternoon to find, to her surprise, her nephew Tyrone MacInnis there too.Mrs Reddick said she sat the 19-year-old down in her car in the car park, and asked him to tell what she says is the truth – that she never promised to split her winnings with him.
He refused, and entered the ceremony with her – noting that both their names were on the ticket.
“I’m taking him to court. It was my ticket,” she shouted. “Now he’s trying to lie and say I said split.”
Mrs Reddick claims she sent Mr MacInnis $100 via email transfer to buy her tickets for the Chase the Ace draw, a fundraiser for two volunteer fire departments in Margaree.

This is a perfect example of how winng a lottery can be way more troublesome than you think.
Regardless of the courts decision on this, those two will never speak to each other again, when just recently she trusted him with $100 to buy tickets for her

In another article she stated she did that on a regular basis. He signed his name on all of tickets she would buy... she did it for good luck. She should be happy with her half. And she should be happy for her nephew.

Yea, cause that's the real check and all
If she sent an email and asked him to buy HER some tickets, it's her money. If nothing in that email said "we will split winnings" etc..then it's a slam dunk for her. The court will NOT listen to hearsay (he said, she said) without a witness.
