One of the few wild animals where the impact of human activity has cause the population to spike. Sharply.

The proliferation of suburbia: mowed Kentucky bluegrass near bodies of water, like in subdivisions, corporate parks, golf courses, etc, created the perfect environment for them. It was like pouring kerosene of the goose fire.

They don’t even need to migrate anymore. The retention pond around your subdivision is their Eden.

One just had babies near the pond out front of where I work. The mom stays with them and the dad struts around the parking lot just shitting the place up not moving for cars
