the full wrath of the OT

i remember when i started here, i'd read stories about things spilling over from here to IRL, and i'd think to myself that i would be safe because there aren't really any people here i know IRL, so i always wondered how bad could it actually be, you know?

yeah, the reach of the long arm of the OT is vast... by the end of the week, your friend will be arrested, indicted, divorced, and living in a tent under a bridge, if you leave it to the sleuths here...

that's Medicare...

Medicaid is for lower income families needing assistance... mainly, the bane of existence for the poll board

This was in the mid 90s, but my dad use to bitch about a coworker of his. The guy had 100k+ a year. He never married the woman he had been dating for a long time, they had 2 kids together, pretty much lived like a married family, but since she was technically a single mother of 2, she was on welfare and got food stamps.

My dad figured it out and I want to see what she was likely getting in welfare and food stamps was either close to or just a little bit more than he paid in taxes every year.

1.) i've always hated that flag and all that it stood to represent

How was the world changed by you ripping it down?

Is there growing support for the confederacy?

I would encourage you to let idiots make their own bed...

There was nothing bold about that action or necessarily helpful.

If you're trying to fight a mind set, then ripping down a flag is counter to your goal.

Thank you. People won't follow the law if they think they won't be held accountable.

Its infuriating even hearing about it. Cannot stand pure greed.

I knew of similar situations when I was a waiter in college. Several of the waitresses were engaged to their boyfriends who worked in oil, and they would wear the "spoiled oilfield wife" bullshite. Except they said they weren't getting married until their kids were old enough for kindergarten, because govt paid for kids' daycare, healthcare and food and they got grants for college. The father's income needs to be counted to stop this bullshite. There has to be a way to stop this abuse of the system.

my world felt instantly better.... as was the world of the 2 young black ladies that told me "thank you" after i did it...

Is there growing support for the confederacy?

you know, i can't really tell... seeing people use them along with Nazi flags during protests, along with some of the comments defending the flag, on this board, i would say that there actually is support for it, or at least, the history of it, as it pertains to an individual's background/family tree...

i don't care about that though.... it's a symbol, to me, of a foreign country that disavowed the US, actively fought the US, and lost... no need to fly the battle flag of a fallen nation that we don't live in... there are plenty of American flags for sale that we could and should fly instead, IMO...

quote:

There was nothing bold about that action or necessarily helpful.

no, there wasn't anything earth shattering... it didn't make the news... it didn't stop racism in it's tracks... but it did, for a moment, make my world a better place...

quote:

If you're trying to fight a mind set, then ripping down a flag is counter to your goal.

i wasn't "fighting" anything, and i don't necessarily see how it's straight away counter, as there are way more variables than just flags when countering a belief or mind set, so i don't agree with your statement...

quote:

I would encourage you to let idiots make their own bed...

i agree... but i guess i really wanted that person to feel like an idiot and think maybe flying a flag that has been pretty much akin to hate in it's history isn't a good idea, especially in a very black part of town... not from me so much, but that's pretty much asking for trouble, because it's not about being proud of a heritage at that point... it's about making a statement, and setting the tone for who stands where, which is something i don't agree with.... tearing that flag down disallowed, at least for that night, for that to happen afterwards...

I got laid off once and was without a job.
Wife works for herself.

Had to put kids on Medicade.
All I know is I had badass ins while I was employed and when kids got sick pharmacy bill was 100-200 out my pocket for the script everytime.
When I lost my job script price went to the tune of free.
My little girl had tubes in her ears at this time it was free.

I don't feeel bad at all.
I was insurance "poor" for the majority of my life and still am in every other area.
shite happens.

Could you share what business he's in without identifying him?

What skill or knowledge does he have to causally earn so much , so quickly in his own business?

Your situation is what Medicaid is for. Completely different from what a lot of people seem to use it for. I'm glad to know that it helped you and I hope you were able to find another job. Cheers.
