Cold, dark room with air flow. If you’re serious about trying, remove your phone from the room completely and read a book for a little bit in bed. Don’t watch anything on TV in the afternoon/evenings that can cause your anxiety levels to spike. Watching things like Game of Thrones affected my sleep
cut liquids a couple of hours before you go to bed.

I think a lot of insomnia is stress or anxiety related, especially if the stakes in life are high such as being in a high impact, pressured job that may not be going right or with family shite going on. Don't go the alcohol path. Go to your doc and get Trazadone. It's non habit forming. Your doctor will tell you insomnia is not good and needs to be addressed.
I don't think insomnia is a natural condition. It is a condition of people who have too much going on upstairs.

I also think the sedentary lifestyle plays a role. A lot of people are quick to grab a sleep aid rather than fixing the root causes of their sleep issues.

In other words, I would like to see how much sleep quality is impacted by factors that could be mitigated by choice as opposed to actual high-stakes anxiety-inducing lifestyles such as what you listed below

Alcohol is terrible for your sleep. Like probably the worst thing you could have

It's amazing how many of you can't function without drugs or alcohol but then yell "fatty" at anyone who mentions eating at Canes.

Try fricking your wife or girlfriend for an hour right before bed. Really go at it. This will help you fall asleep.

I couldn't sleep without alcohol for a really really long time. And after I stopped drinking it took a long time to adjust, but now I can yes. I just stay active and busy and by 10 or so I'm beat, then naturally up at 630. It's great.
I keep gummies for the bad nights, but those sleepless nights come when I can't get out of my own damn head.

I have zero issues falling asleep naturally. I just roll over on my side with my personal fan blowing and I'm zonked out within a few minutes. If napping were a profession I'd be a millionaire.

Improve your diet and exercise regularly will help out tremendously

I am a gifted sleeper.
As I get older, I realize how much of a blessing it truly is to simply be able to fall asleep when I want to.
One of my proudest sleeping accomplishments was falling asleep during a bedtime argument with my wife.
I swear when I woke up in the morning she was still looking at me and even more upset than she was before I dozed off

I usually fall asleep fairly easily. If I'm ever having trouble I'll put on a dull podcast and it does the trick
