I'd only ever beg/ask for money if I couldn't feed my kids. Anything else? I'll find a way.

Begging is shameful. Plain and simple. Especially for shite you don't need.

Friend I know did this. She lost her job but found another. Not sure I am going to donate. Trip is for her daughter to go to Italy. She was picked to go there for a dance competition.

Probably a load of crap about the dance thing.

If she can't afford it herself, she can't go. Plain and simple.

People have already donated. I know her and her daughter, so I don't think she is making it up. I do think though that she shouldn't ask for money.

what ever happened to car washes, boston butts, etc so that people get something for their donation. Its getting as bad as the guys with the "will work for food" signs. One day I asked a guy if he wanted to do some work and he said "cant you just give me some money?" I went and bought him a meal from chick fila a and when I gave it to him he looked at me like WTF? I told him I'm not giving you money to buy beer for you and your buddies!!!

Honestly I think a healthy adult asking people for money is the lowest of the low. Family is one thing, but just random neighbors/fb friends? Those people are shite.

I have a friend that has done a few shameless crowdfunds for stupid bike trips he wants to go on.

I'm all about voluntary exchanges of money, but let's not for a second kid ourselves and act like it isn't low rent to ask for money to go do fun things. If I EVER resort to such a measure, it will be because someone is going to die without expensive medical treatment.

Add to the list the fund raising or straight up money begging from parents of kids and travel ball tournaments.

It's the Internet version of standing on the corner of Bluebonnet/Picardy with a change jug for juniors travel team.

Big difference between a group asking for cash to make something for others to enjoy and a mom asking for money so she can go frick the bag boy at a hotel in Bermuda.

Why does it bother you so much, if you don't want to help out, then say no and move on with life. Why does what someone do with their life bother you so much.

The thing that's so disturbing about it is these people don't have the modicum of self-respect it would take the average American to say"you know what, it's not worth ruining my family's reputation to bother my frends and neighbors by asking them for money like a common street urchin."

I got some shrimp the other day at a local seafood market, the guy in front of me was trying to get shrimp and crabs to boil. The place didn't take EBT. He was PISSED!

It is crazy. A kickstarter or GoFundMe for everything. I generally do not mind if it is for some kind of medical purposes though or for children.

I think it's pretty clear I'm not "bothered so much" by this, but taking an experience and putting forth for discussion the demonstrated behavior on a message board.

Why does what (posting) someone (me) do with their life bother you so much, brother?
