If you are in a RV it isn't camping. Camping is in a tent, or tarp or hell even in a hammock. Car camping is also the weakest form of camping but is still ok.

On steaks:
Precut and place each in a ziplock bag and force the air out.
Then freeze in a large block of ice that in a good ice chest will melt slowly exposing two steaks each night.

Sides: Noodles alfredo early, later mashed potatoes
Green beans sear fried in the pan you cooked the steaks in,
apples fried in the same pan.

GOOD airmatresses are a necessity once you hit 30.

The Uinta and Henry mountains in Utah make for some of the best camping I've done. I love how in some places you can go from arid desert to lush, cool forest in a matter of minutes. And you can't beat the views.

When I was younger, my wife and I used to backpack camp. Froze two ribeye steaks, double wrapped in aluminum, then wrapped with multiple layers of newspaper. Wrapped baking potatoes in foil as well. Also brought some butter, salt and pepper.

At the end of the first day, the steaks were cold, but defrosted. Camping grill for the steaks over coals pulled out of the campfire with my folding shovel, and just tossed and turned the potatoes in the fire about 30-40 minutes prior to steaks on grill.

Did the same for bacon. Eggs were prescrambled at home, and frozen as well. Always had coffee made on a lightweight burner.

Locally I enjoy camping along the Appalachian Trail and in Unicoi State Park at the Raven Cliff Falls and Anna Ruby Falls.

ETA: I prefer wilderness camping in a tent (which I get to do about 4-5/year). However, once a year we will go with the in-laws and stay in a cabin on Lake Rabin (NOT CAMPING and neither is staying in a "camper trailer"!!!).

Backpacking-tent camping is the way to go if you really want to get Away & experience nature. To hell with wuss camper trailers & 5th wheels. For a quick trip I like to go to Winding Stairs near Albert Pike in Arkansas.

Negatives: Setting up/taking down camp when it's raining.

Roger that. The worst is packing up wet, because you know you're going to have to clean it and dry it when you get home.

I backpacked the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska/British Columbia. You have to camp in designated areas to lower the environmental impact, so you end up with a group of people around you every night. It rained the first two days of my trip. When the sun finally came out, it looked like a tornado had passed through the camping area. There was a piece of wet gear on every bush, branch or length of parachute cord available.

That being said, it was a great trip and I met some great people.

I love vehicle camping on the beach. I have a rooftop tent for my SUV. My wife and I will load up, drive deep down the coast by corpus christi, set up shop, and spend a few days swimming, fishing, and cooking. So deserted at night the tent is truly only for sleeping. If you catch my meaning.

Ozark Mountains... Petit Jean State Park is my favorite... tons of hiking and climbing

4 person tent... even in winter

I bring 2 ice chests... One with food (steak chicken pork breakfast) the other is loaded with beer and whiskey
Also bring can goods and dehydrated meals

Only negative is bringing a noob who doesn't know anything about the outdoors so you have to do all the work yourself... but even that can be fun if you teach them along the way... oh yea, rain kinda sucks too

Anywhere on the AT, but my favorite area is the Grayson Highlands portion through Virginia. It's hard for me to pick a favorite spot. I just like being out there in the woods.
