What’s the OT stance on not inviting the in-laws over due to excessive wokeness? This year I just had enough and didn’t invite them, even though my own mother is coming over.

To put a cherry on top of the situation, the MIL is calling my wife demanding that I put food aside for her to come pick up.

Use the covid excuse. Tell them cases are rising and you don’t want to put yourself at risk.

Invite the in-laws and put 2g of marijuana edibles in their cranberry sauce. A good time will be had.

I've got some moron relatives I have to deal with but I'm not going to let their dumbass ideologies turn the holidays into an issue for the ones I love.

I'll bite my tongue till I get a few whiskeys down then all bets are off. But someone would have to truly insult my wife or children before I didn't allow them to come for the holidays.

ETA: After your Covid statement where they refused to let you eat inside and wouldn't go to the bathroom unless all the doors are open - I wouldn't invite them either. If you have a segment of your family that makes the holidays actively worse for the rest then that segment should be removed like the cancer it is.

If they can avoid the triggers and get along then toughen up, but if they're making the day worse then don't allow them to come.

You all sound like pretty miserable people. Except maybe your wife.

I'm generally for whatever makes living with another person easier. If your wife goes nuclear over not inviting them, well......I'd suck it up and deal with it. A single day of annoyance is a hell of alot better than the misery your wife can inflict on you.

If she's cool with it, and I mean for real okay with not inviting her parents and not just saying she's okay, then frick em. If not, you better choose wisely.

Thanksgiving 2020….they demanded that we have dinner outside, wore masks the whole time (outside), and wouldn’t go inside to use the restroom unless the front and back door were open.

Are they bringing up the shite or just enjoying the holiday? It is possible to leave politics at the door contrary to popular belief.
