Best best ones are have babies crying and roosters crowing in the background.

I find indian call centers to be less annoying than dealing with the DMV. And thats relevant because I believe US based call centers would be full of the same people who work at the DMV.
American Express and Discover still have their customer service in the US. It's always a relief when I've called and have actually been able to communicate with the person on the other line.

Once called customer service and a foreigner announced that his name was "El-vehz."
Gotta respect his game.

Only slightly less frustrating than having to say "REPRESENTATIVE" to a computer 6 times before you can get a human being on the phone

You can do just about anything online now....there is no sense or reason to call a customer service number

You'd think so, but not always.

And no matter what problem you have, they are overly apologetic about it, but in no way can they actually solve it.
They have trouble with the word "Sorry" and they always pronounce it as "Saw-dee"

Any of y’all ever been in a call center? I used to consult for companies that had them in Mesa, AZ. Holy shite. Talk about depressing environment.
Anybody seem ready player one? Or read it? Those places are like the farms in that movie that are trying to find the treasure. Everything those folks do is measured to the second. Breaks, screen time, smoke breaks, EVERYTHING.
most of them had jigsaw puzzles at their desk for sanity purposes. There are like 75 people in one big arse room and you can hear every conversation while you’re walking around “observing “.
AI needs to fix this shite. It’s the one area I feel like would benefit. The churn rate at this joint was stupid too. Like 75% turnover year over year.
I drank heavily every night on those trips. Just out of compassion.

I used to own some rental property and would do everything possible to keep from having to call VRBO.
They were not Indian and I had no idea what they were but they ever bit if not more annoying.

AI cannot replace Indians soon enough
Strangely enough now that you say that I am 100% convinced I had my first CS interaction with AI last week. SiriusXM came up for renewal and the entire conversation seemed like a total AI affair. Asked what I needed - reduced rate - voice said let me see what I can do. Came back in 5-10 seconds with a fair rate and I accepted. No interaction with a real person at all.

Just called Pearson publishing. I couldn’t for the life of me understand the customer service representative.

Ha, good luck! Even my damn bank, a small credit union, uses them.
Didn't help the nightmare of having my wallet stolen and a half dozen fraudulent charges showing up on my debit card within the hour
They bought Krispy kreme donuts I bs you not
I will say neighbors took care of it within short order though

Just put the phone down. Don't hang up. And let them ramble on for however long they happen to go. Come back in 10 minutes or so. If they're still talking.... leave for another 10 minutes. Time is money!

You know stuffs really gone downhill when you have to convince a computer that you’re not a robot.

There's not enough stink being raised over all the outsourcing going on. Most if not all the BCBS are doing it. My local contracts with Cognizant and they don't even require the people they use to provide a last name. These are the people who have access to all your personal info...low wage workers for sure won't take scammers offers for that info
