I'd be glad to send them some good old Louisiana man's piss for their recycling efforts. Might even throw in a turd or two for the dumb-asses.
What idiots elected the psycho leaders of California? Surely, they're not all dumb as shite!

I understand this but we are all already drinking indirect potable reuse water expect groundwater users. So going to DPR is not a huge leap from what we are currently doing.

Would Lex Luthor's plan from Superman: The Movie (1978) work? In the movie Luthor's master plan is to launch a 500 megaton nuclear bomb at the San Andreas Fault, which he claims will cause the entire west coast of California to fall into the ocean.

You think water from your local waterways is any cleaner?

Got news for you. Unless you are drinking well water, the water you have in your tap likely came from water with fecal matter in it.

This.

I mean hell….it’s either drink well water, treated poo water, or water straight out a lake or river. The third option was a big cause of death during the Oregon Trail days.

This is nothing new. In the late '90s Santa Monica had a plant built and operational, ready to distribute into the municipal system. People went crazy, despite bring shown the the treated black water was actually cleaner than what the were currently using.

To me, it's a question of whether or not you trust that government to execute the job exactly 100% of the time. How many times would some shittles in your cup be acceptable?

To be fair, even 40 years ago such treated water was significantly cleaner than essentially any freshwater source.

There's lots of reasons to bag on California, but them doing something they should have done a generation ago isn't one of them.

Instead we've heard decades of California bitching and throwing tantrums over water rights.

Given the rate at which municipal water systems are fined by the federal government for violating standards, shitties in your cup isn't happening.

You may not trust government to do a job, but you should always trust them to avoid more work-- and violating treated water standards is a shitload more work for them, in terms of the hoops they have to jump through for their regulatory overseers.

I understand your point, however, my brother in Christ, it happened in LSU's back yard. Boil notices, for whatever reason, are not uncommon. Let's not act like that because it happens at an excessively low rate anywhere that it's acceptable.

Keep in mind food/drink recalls happen all the time in the world of private industry also.

If I don't trust them to do any job, why would I trust them with this one? Also, FIFY.

In Germantown, we couldn't drink our water, water our lawns or take showers for two weeks back in July. 300 gallons of Diesel got spilled into the reservoir. Some idiot decided it was a good idea to put the diesel generator directly next to the reservoir and the guy refilling it spilled it. Alot of it. The city was handing out cases of bottled water, but they were nice enough to give a 20-something dollar credit on our water bills because when the water was back to being drinkable, we were supposed to run all of our faucets for like 30 minutes and drain the water heater. It was, to put it mildly, a big stinking mess.

I wouldn't trust the sleeping on the job lazy lowlifes at NOS&WB, but they can't keep the pumps consistently working or our porous water distribution system pressurized. NO has more "boil water advisories" than any place in the developed world.

I believe Sant Monica is or was on their own system, but MWD and LAW&P generally had their shite together. The service a large area in the L.A. metro region. I think they're capable of distributing clean water out of their aqueduct systems or recycled waste water.

Water is probably clean enough to drink and not get sick (I still wouldn't) after it comes out of the treatment plant. And I have no data to support it. But I would imagine that the CalEPA is pretty militant about enforcing wastewater permit limits.

Treated water that then goes through RO and UV is probably as clean or cleaner than bottled water.
