Did you not read where the money came from? Hint: the Feds gave it to them.

I expect Governor Ernesto to try and do the same...

So much for hoping the housing market might even back out a little bit

You think California is doing this with their own money?

They are doing it with Fed money. Biden's Covid relief bill from earlier this year printed TWO TRILLION dollars worth of deficit money and handed it out to special interest groups and fiscally mismanaged blue states and cities to help them avoid a looming economic cliff. Decades of fiscal irresponsibility, corruption and graft were erased with the stroke of a pen. Only 10% of that bill actually went towards Covid relief and policy efforts to stop the pandemic. The rest was a corrupt slush fund that every working American, along with their children and grandchildren will be paying interest on forever. And it didn't pass via the legislative process - it was slipped in through budget reconciliation.

Paid your student loans? Boy, are you stupid.

Well yeah, they put everyone with a federal student loan into deferment with no interest accrual. You are stupid if you're currently paying your student loans right now.

Jesus Christ, I hope we don’t follow suit. I’ve got 5 people I haven’t been able to evict thanks to Baton Rouge city court (JOPs still evict but I’m outside their areas) and this will just extend that forever

I wish I could get the government to pay all of my tenants back rent.

I guess I could just say screw it and go section 8 and become a slum lord.

No, your kids, and their kids, and their kids are paying for it.

Assuming this country still exists in its current form. Which I seriously doubt it will.

So, if I had been smart enough to rent a condo on the beach in Santa Monica for the last year, and not paid a dime of rent, Gavin Newsome would have picked up the tab?

The indignation seems to be Entirely focused on all the people who haven’t paid rent for a year. But it’s like what Lenin said... you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh...
