how'd panera pull that off?

There is probably a bakery union with different deals in place.

Just shy of 145k/month. I’d roll it on the the customer, and if they feel the need not to participate. That’s their decision.
Why don't you just go ahead and pay your employees more and do this already? You greedy bastard.

There’s a bunch of spoiled teenagers in California that spend theirs days locked inside playing video games that could make some serious bank if they got off their arse and flipped burgers for a few hours a week.
It has been $17 here in NY for a while. At $17, they get more older workers to come in.

If I owned a fast food chain I would be reading the clause to break a lease and make sure I had no California locations. That's some over reaching bullshite.

All for UBI, when they get shite canned the mantra will be universal basic income. Bill gates would approve.

Thank you for your contribution.
Agreed, but what the hell are you doing about it?

Artificially legislating wage increases, rather than allowing supply and demand economics to function at its natural equilibrium is one of the primary causes (along with the proliferation of unchecked/widely abused welfare programs that cause people not to work and drive labor participation down) of unsustainable inflation

Crazy how many people are against other people making more money. When other people make more, it puts upward pressure on wages for everyone and everyone is better off other than the massively wealthy and profitable corp.

Quit eating fast food. It’s poison and awful for you.
Don't care about the "poison" argument, but we have certainly opted out of Fast Food in the grand scheme of things.
For a family of 5, it seems silly to pay $50-60 or more for "fast food." I'd rather eat at an actual restaurant for slightly more. Some restaurants offer "kids eat free," so it might actually be cheaper than eating at Chick Fil A, etc.

And in turn makes the cost of goods and living more expensive, which renders the higher pay null and void.

It’s fascinating how the rednecks always carry water for the big corps. Those same corps frick this very gullible workforce over at every chance

There is nothing patriotic about getting fricked in the arse by a big corporation yet they always seem to be against the people trying not to get fricked in the arse as much.
Gullible sheep, hating on their own people and supporting a group of elite who wouldn’t even be caught in the same building as them

Not a redneck. I’m an actual business owner who has to make payroll monthly.
You’re talking in circles. You said you’d pass the cost of higher wages on to your customers. If said customers are paid more due to upward wage pressure, they now pay more for everything everywhere because businesses pass the cost to the consumer.
How fricking dense are you?

Dumbass.
Sure, let’s go ahead and push minimum wage up to $30 an hour . That would make everyone better off wouldn’t it?
It’s sad that people don’t understand simple economic principles

Why do you keep repeating this? McDonald’s corporate doesn’t pay wages dumb frick.

You already indicated that you understand who will bear the brunt of this increase, the customers. Not the corporation you are railing against. Why do you want poor people to pay more for their shite food?

My guess? The bakers union has to fend for itself.

I’m not discussing what my clientele has to pay outside of my business. I know what my customers will pay and if they don’t, I have 1000 people behind them that will.
