Any word on future improvements to the Calcasieu Bridge?

there are 2 major issues

first, there have been rumors that possible replacements will be lower and this may affect some minority owned businesses

second, upsetting the old bridge may release a bunch of EDC that was released by plants in the past, so it's a touch and go scenario

For a fact - it's the "new bridge" in Baton Rouge. Source - the inspectors.

need to expand the roads that lead to and from it to more than 1 lane. Distilling I-10 down to 1 lane after crossing the friggin Mississippi river is asinine.

I agree...close Wash st and add a lane through to college

They need another bridge between the Mississippi River Bridge & the Sunshine bridge. That would repair a lot of traffic problems. Does that count?

Don't even know if it has a name but there is this bridge in Chackbay heading to Vacherie that is narrow af. If a cane truck is traveling in the opposite lane as you, your butt hole will pucker up tighter than a flea's pussy.

I can't believe they still run a ferry in Duty Ferry/Enterprise, LA.

Seems like a bridge should have been built there a long time ago when compared to the labor and maintenance costs of the ferry.

I'm guessing you're talking about the bayou chevreuil bridge. That is a shitty bridge.

The bridge however on LA 1 Intercostal is under a make over currently. very important bridge in our area...

Not so much a bridge as much as it is an overpass... That bridge/overpass on 90 in the Franklin/Berwick area.

Good god the left handed engineering involved with that roller coaster of a bridge is crazy.... I'm sure guys around that area have some info on why it's so bumpy/fricked up?

i hate that part of the trip pulling a boat to toledo bend. Scares the crap out of me that the boat trailer will pop off.

What?!

Please explain.

It seems to me that expanding the Calcasieu Bridge is the way to go.

Lowering the incline/decline would also be in the best interest of the La DOT.

Some precedents of expanding and lowering that were set include the Sabine River Bridge in 2000 as well as the I-10 Trinity River Bridge that was completed in 2009 just west of Anahuac, TX.

The BR new bridge is the only possible answer. Ok maybe the bridge itself is fine but approach is a mess. The daily traffic jam is an embarrassment to the capital city.

Belle Chasse bridge sucks too. It's an old drawbridge that raises every time a tug boat is within 50 miles. So the whole parish is practically cut off at frequent intervals.
