No but it was a way to show everybody else that they are better than them and shove it in their faces!

Not really. Pieces of shite will piece of shite though. As stated before in these threads, I wish the news would’ve ran stories on the non paying flood victims as well as the shitty contractors. I guarantee the flood victims would ASTRONOMICALY outweigh the contractors. I was a part of it, saw it, and paid for it.

You reckon it was all a front to loot?

There was a guy who must have posted on FB Live about 20 times the first day. Kind of a fat Vin Diesel looking character named Damon or Damien, IIRC. Every post I saw was from the inside his truck, breathelessly describing the fleet he was leading to rescue the masses. I was joking w/ friends at first, saying that if he got off FB and out of his truck, maybe he could actually help someone.

That night he was back on FB ranting about how many boats he had, but the police where blocking the roads to the launch. He seemed to think it was all a big conspiracy to deny him his moment of social media glory. He was definitely an a-hole and maybe a little nuts.

Any person with an iota of critical thinking ability should be able to deduce that local law enforcement might be a bit concerned about the prospect of launching a bunch of boats at night, piloted by people unfamiliar with the area, into uncertain water conditions. Would they be part of the solution or would they exacerbate the problem?

I think the vast majority of the volunteers and all of the donars had good intentions. But I don't doubt that there were some people focused on self benefit.

It’s like contractors make an effort to be as trashy and unreliable as possible. They’re too stupid to understand that they’d make more money by simply being reliable and showing up. I

How is a contractor not agreeing to the terms of his contract a criminal matter? Shouldn't all these be civil cases?

The difference between a contract breach and fraud is a fine line. A breach of contract deals more with disappointed expectations, whereas fraud deals with the intent to inflict financial harm.

I should have learned a trade skill. It seems like you could make a killing as a contractor if you do actual work and show up on time

I don't think you even have to show up on time, just show up. And if you don't show up, answer the phone and don't lie to me.

My focus remains on the work the Cajun Navy is doing every day to be prepared to respond to the next disaster, wherever it may be. Your prayers are appreciated.

I'm sure he can't wait to call on desperate people in distress with money to give.

A "man of his word"? Why doesn't he have a license? You know he used the Cajun "navy" as a selling point to gain this person's trust.

He's scum. Plain and simple.

No, Kibbles, you narcissistic frick. Yes, this guy may be scum (we will see what comes out in court) but your shady "non-profit" where you ask for 3 iPods, oh wait don't you have 3 children?, is shadier than him just on a WAY smaller scale.

I personally didn’t but I know a few contractors who did. One was trying to get Nakamoto to do a piece on it.

What the frick is it with contractors? Biggest bunch of losers I have ever met. Don’t show up on time, don’t show up at all, can’t meet a deadline, don’t understand budgets, think 85% done is done.

I personally don't understand why people hire "contractors" who aren't licensed. Just to save a buck. When it comes to repairs, now is not the time to take the cheap option. Unless you are just flipping a house then perhaps you would.

Her excuse for not registering as a non-profit was entertaining

I really wish Louisiana would handle contractor licensing the same way Texas does. Our contractor board is a joke of epic proportions with only their own self serving interest at heart.

Bloated state government is gonna bloated state government. Need to get rid of all this licensing crap. Louisiana apparently requires a license to be a florist lol
